I use AI in so many different ways, both personally and professionally, and I hop between the tools: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and a tiny bit of Copilot.
My latest thing that I solved, and I was pretty proud of it: I'm building a business, but I'm also working as a substitute teacher, and those emails come frequently. I didn't want to miss any of the jobs.
The workflow
I used Google Apps Script, with the help of Gemini, to build an automation. When I get a "job accepted" email, it creates two calendar invites, one on each of the calendars I use, with all of the pertinent details. I also used Apps Script to create a spreadsheet that records my expected pay for each of those jobs.
Professionally, I'm launching a business, so I used Claude to help build my website, ChatGPT, Canva AI and Claude to make images for social media, and AI to draft business plans and proposals. I try to stay away from having AI compose for me. Instead I dictate using Wispr Flow and then may ask the AI to refine it.
The result
It's made me more productive, because I can generate ideas faster and use them as a springboard for slideshows, web pages or courses. And it's allowing me to build an after-retirement career: I've just retired after 32 years in education and I'm going to do AI consulting, helping college faculty use AI to deepen their instruction.
