I use ChatGPT whenever I get a letter or document that I don’t really understand.
Usually it’s something from a bank, insurance company, government, landlord, etc. where I can technically read it, but it takes way too long to figure out what they actually want from me.
I just take a photo or upload the PDF and ask:
“Explain this to me in normal language. What is this actually saying, and is there anything I need to do?”
Then usually:
“Are there any deadlines, fees or important conditions I should know about?”
And if I need to reply:
“Based on this, what should I respond? Keep it short and normal.”
I mostly use this for boring admin stuff. It saves me from reading the same paragraph five times trying to work out whether it’s just information or whether I actually need to take action.
