Cancel Survey

One Question Cancel Survey Email

1/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a one-question cancel survey email for [PRODUCT] that asks why they started cancel and leaves a reply path, not a lecture. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who writes cancel-survey emails people will actually answer. <context> Someone started cancel on [PRODUCT]. I need a sendable customer email that asks one reason and keeps cancel available. This is not a welcome series, not a sales email, and not an in-app modal. </context> <inputs> - Product and what it does: [PRODUCT] - Where they clicked cancel: [BILLING PORTAL / IN APP / EMAIL LINK] - Reason list I already use (or open): [REASON LIST] - Tone: [PLAIN / WARM / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] - Reply path: [REPLY THIS EMAIL / FORM URL] - Words I never use: [BANNED PHRASES] </inputs> <task> Write 2 full emails (short and shorter) plus subject and preview for each. Each email must: 1. State that I want the reason so I can fix the product, not so I can argue 2. Ask one question only, using [REASON LIST] as numbered choices plus one Other line 3. Say they can still finish cancel after they answer 4. Point the answer to [REPLY THIS EMAIL / FORM URL] 5. Avoid [BANNED PHRASES] Then write a 4-line note on which version to send first if they already saw an in-app survey. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent, months free, or dollar off. - Do not guilt them or hide the cancel path. - Do not write a 5-email nurture. - No we are heartbroken, no family language. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTA. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Ask one reason. A five-question survey after they already clicked cancel feels like a trap and they skip it.

Reason Coded Survey Follow Up

2/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a reason-coded survey follow-up for [CHURN REASON] with one choice list and a free-text line you can load as a customer email. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who writes reason-coded cancel-survey follow-ups. <context> I already have cancel reason codes. I need a sendable email that maps to those codes so later save or pause emails can match. Not a product roadmap essay and not a coupon blast. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Reason codes I use, in order: [REASON LIST] - The reason I think this person has, if any: [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] - Free-text allowed: [YES / NO] - Tone: [PLAIN / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] - Form or reply target: [URL OR REPLY] </inputs> <task> Write 1 email with subject plus 2 alts and preview. Body: one sentence of context, then the reason list exactly as I wrote it (do not rename codes), then one optional free-text line if [YES / NO] is YES. Close with how to finish cancel and how to keep the plan. If [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] is a known code, open on that guess in one line and still show the full list so they can correct you. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a new reason code. - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not write the save-offer email in this pass. - Keep the body under 160 words. </constraints> <format> Return Subject, Alt subjects, Preview, Body, CTA. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Put your real reason codes in the prompt. If Claude invents reasons, your save offers will not match the answers.

Skip Survey Rescue Email

3/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a short rescue email for people who skipped the in-app survey on [PRODUCT] and still asks one reason without blocking cancel. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a retention copywriter who recovers skipped cancel surveys without blocking cancel. <context> The customer skipped the in-app cancel survey on [PRODUCT]. I need a short email that asks once more and then gets out of the way. Not a save-offer stack and not a dunning notice. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - What they skipped: [IN APP SURVEY / CHAT PROMPT] - One question I still want answered: [ONE QUESTION] - Reason list if I have one: [REASON LIST OR NONE] - Cancel status: [STILL PENDING / ALREADY CANCELLED] - Tone: [LIGHT / PLAIN] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 3 emails under 110 words each, plus subject and preview. Each must acknowledge they skipped, ask [ONE QUESTION] once, honor [STILL PENDING / ALREADY CANCELLED], and include a one-line skip-this-too close. If [REASON LIST OR NONE] is a list, show it as 5 or fewer choices. Then pick the version that does not sound like a second modal. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not say they cannot cancel until they answer. - Do not write a sequence of 4 more emails. - No sad emoji walls. </constraints> <format> Return 3 labeled emails with Subject and Preview. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send this the same day they skip. A survey three days later reads as a win-back, and they will ignore it.

Cancel Not Done Yet Survey

4/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a survey email that states cancel is not finished for [PRODUCT] until they confirm, then asks one reason and shows the keep-account path. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a billing-aware retention writer who tells the truth about cancel state. <context> I need a sendable email that states whether cancel on [PRODUCT] is still pending. Then I ask one survey question. This is not a dark-pattern delay and not a sales email. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - True cancel state: [PENDING UNTIL CONFIRM / END OF PERIOD / ALREADY FINAL] - Access end date if I have it: [ACCESS END DATE OR NONE] - One survey question: [ONE QUESTION] - Keep-account URL or reply: [KEEP PATH] - Finish-cancel URL or reply: [CANCEL PATH] - Tone: [DIRECT / CALM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Open with the true [PENDING UNTIL CONFIRM / END OF PERIOD / ALREADY FINAL] line in the first 3 sentences. Name [ACCESS END DATE OR NONE] only if I gave one. Ask [ONE QUESTION]. Then two equal-weight paths: [KEEP PATH] and [CANCEL PATH]. Do not bury finish-cancel. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a date or a discount percent. - Do not claim cancel is pending if I said it is final. - Do not add a third offer path. - Keep each body under 150 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, Keep CTA, Cancel CTA. Mark which to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Say the legal truth your billing tool uses. If cancel is already final, do not pretend it is still pending.

High Value Account Survey Email

5/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a careful survey email for a [PLAN OR MRR BAND] account that asks why they are leaving and offers a human reply, not a coupon. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a customer-success writer who emails high-value accounts that started cancel. <context> This is a [PLAN OR MRR BAND] account on [PRODUCT]. I need a survey email from a human that asks why and offers a reply, not a coupon code. Not a mass win-back and not a dunning letter. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Plan or MRR band (no need for the exact dollar if I did not give it): [PLAN OR MRR BAND] - What I know they used: [USAGE NOTES] - Contact name: [CUSTOMER NAME OR TEAM] - My name and role: [FROM NAME AND ROLE] - What I can offer if they reply (call, pause, downgrade, or terms I can honor): [HUMAN OFFER] - Off-limits: [OFF LIMITS] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails (120-180 words) plus subject and preview. Open on something true from [USAGE NOTES]. Ask why they started cancel in one sentence. Offer [HUMAN OFFER] only as I wrote it. Honor [OFF LIMITS]. Sign as [FROM NAME AND ROLE]. Include a PS that says they can finish cancel without talking to me. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a usage metric. - Do not invent a case study. - Do not write we cannot lose you. - One ask: reply or book the path I named. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, PS. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: If this account is in your top revenue band, send from a person, not billing@, and read the draft out loud first.

Save Offer

5 prompts

Reason Matched Save Offer Email

6/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a save-offer email for [CHURN REASON] that uses only [OFFER I CAN HONOR] and never invents a discount percent. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who matches a save offer to a cancel reason and never invents pricing. <context> The customer gave [CHURN REASON]. I can honor only [OFFER I CAN HONOR]. I need a sendable save email. Not a pricing page and not a launch sequence. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Cancel reason: [CHURN REASON] - Offer I can honor, written in my words: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] - What I cannot offer: [OFF LIMITS] - Plan they are on: [CURRENT PLAN] - Tone: [PLAIN / WARM] - Accept URL: [ACCEPT URL] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 save emails plus subject and preview. Each email: name [CHURN REASON] in the first 4 lines, state [OFFER I CAN HONOR] exactly (same numbers, same duration), handle one objection in one line, one accept CTA to [ACCEPT URL], one continue-cancel line to [CANCEL URL]. If [OFFER I CAN HONOR] has no percent, do not add one. If a number is missing, write [VERIFY] and do not guess. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent, dollar off, or months free. - Honor [OFF LIMITS]. - Do not hide continue-cancel. - Do not write a 3-email drip in this pass. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, Accept CTA, Cancel CTA, and a [VERIFY] list. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Match the offer to the reason. A price cut will not save someone who is not using the product.

Downgrade Instead of Discount

7/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a right-size plan email for [CURRENT PLAN] that offers [LOWER PLAN AND PRICE] instead of inventing a percent off. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who right-sizes a plan instead of minting a coupon. <context> The customer is on [CURRENT PLAN] and started cancel, often for price or unused seats. I can offer [LOWER PLAN AND PRICE] only. I need a sendable email. Not a full catalog and not a percent-off stunt. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Current plan and what they keep losing: [CURRENT PLAN] - Lower plan, price, and what they keep: [LOWER PLAN AND PRICE] - What they lose on the lower plan: [WHAT THEY LOSE] - Switch URL: [SWITCH URL] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - Tone: [PLAIN / DIRECT] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Frame the lower plan as right-size, not as a punishment. List what they keep vs [WHAT THEY LOSE] in short lines. Use the price only as I wrote it in [LOWER PLAN AND PRICE]. If I omitted a number, write [VERIFY]. One CTA to [SWITCH URL], one continue-cancel line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent on the current plan. - Do not invent a lower-plan price. - Do not add a third plan I did not name. - Keep each body under 170 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Keep vs lose lines, CTAs. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Put the real lower-plan price in the prompt. If you leave price blank, Claude should not invent one.

Honor Only The Terms I Gave

8/30

โœจ What it does

Claude rewrites [SAVE OFFER DRAFT] so every number matches [OFFER TERMS] and any missing percent is marked [VERIFY], never guessed. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a line editor for save-offer emails. You keep my numbers. You do not improve them with a nicer percent. <context> I will paste a draft save email. I need a sendable rewrite that matches [OFFER TERMS] exactly. Not a new offer. Not a legal memo. </context> <inputs> - Draft: [SAVE OFFER DRAFT] - Terms I can honor: [OFFER TERMS] - Product: [PRODUCT] - Facts I must keep: [FACTS] - Words I hate: [BANNED PHRASES] - Accept URL: [ACCEPT URL] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] </inputs> <task> List every number, percent, and free-month claim in [SAVE OFFER DRAFT]. Tag each MATCHES TERMS, CONFLICTS, or NOT IN TERMS. Then write 2 rewritten emails that keep [FACTS], use only claims in [OFFER TERMS], drop [BANNED PHRASES], and mark missing numbers as [VERIFY] instead of filling them. Subject plus preview for each. One accept CTA, one continue-cancel line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not round or convert a price I wrote. - Do not add a deadline I did not write. - Do not write a second offer. </constraints> <format> Return the number audit, then Rewrite A and Rewrite B. I will paste one rewrite into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: If the draft says a percent you never approved, delete that line before you load it in billing.

Feature Unlock Save Email

9/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a save email that unlocks [FEATURE THEY HAVE NOT USED] on [PRODUCT] with no discount unless you put one in [OFFER TERMS]. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a retention copywriter who saves accounts by unlocking unused value, not by inventing a coupon. <context> The customer is leaving [PRODUCT] and has not used [FEATURE THEY HAVE NOT USED]. I need a sendable save email. A discount is allowed only if [OFFER TERMS] contains one. Not a tutorial series and not a launch email. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Unused feature and what it does: [FEATURE THEY HAVE NOT USED] - How I will actually unlock or show it: [HOW TO TURN IT ON] - Offer terms if any (or NONE): [OFFER TERMS] - Cancel reason if known: [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] - Accept URL: [ACCEPT URL] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - Tone: [HELPFUL / PLAIN] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Lead with the unused feature and [HOW TO TURN IT ON]. Tie it to [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] only if I gave a reason. Include a price cut only if [OFFER TERMS] is not NONE, and then copy those terms exactly. Otherwise write no percent and no dollars off. One accept CTA, one continue-cancel line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not invent a usage stat. - Do not promise a feature I cannot turn on. - Keep each body under 160 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTAs. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Unlock a feature they already pay for or that you can actually turn on. A fake unlock is worse than no email.

Founder Save For High MRR

10/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a founder-voice save email for a [HIGH MRR ACCOUNT] that offers a call or [OFFER I CAN HONOR] and will not mint a percent. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a founder ghostwriter who writes one save email to a high-value account. <context> This is a [HIGH MRR ACCOUNT] on [PRODUCT] that started cancel. I can offer a call and/or [OFFER I CAN HONOR]. I need a sendable email in my voice. Not a mass coupon and not a board update. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Why this account matters in my words (no fake ARR): [HIGH MRR ACCOUNT] - What I know they used or asked for: [USAGE OR TICKETS] - Offer I can honor, or NONE: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] - Call link or reply: [CALL PATH] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - Voice sample or notes: [VOICE] - My name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails (130-200 words) plus subject and preview. Sound like [VOICE]. Reference [USAGE OR TICKETS] without inventing tickets. If [OFFER I CAN HONOR] is NONE, the only offer is the call. If it has terms, copy them exactly and do not add a percent. Keep continue-cancel visible. Sign as [FROM NAME]. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a revenue number. - Do not write we would be lost without you. - Do not CC a fake team. - One primary CTA: the call or the honor-only offer. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send this from the founder or CS lead address. A billing@ from-name kills the point of a founder save.

Pause

5 prompts

Pause Instead of Cancel Email

11/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a pause-instead-of-cancel email for [PRODUCT] that states [PAUSE LENGTH] and what stays saved, with no invented discount. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who offers pause instead of cancel and tells the truth about billing. <context> The customer started cancel on [PRODUCT]. I can offer [PAUSE LENGTH]. I need a sendable email. Not a discount email unless I put terms in the inputs. Not a win-back. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Pause length I can run: [PAUSE LENGTH] - What stays saved (data, seats, settings): [WHAT STAYS] - What billing does during pause: [BILLING DURING PAUSE] - Pause URL: [PAUSE URL] - Continue-cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - Tone: [CALM / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Open on pause as the fit when the need is temporary. State [PAUSE LENGTH], [WHAT STAYS], and [BILLING DURING PAUSE] in plain lines. No discount percent unless I added one in [BILLING DURING PAUSE]. One pause CTA, one continue-cancel line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a pause length or a discount percent. - Do not say pause is forever. - Do not hide continue-cancel. - Keep each body under 160 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTAs. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Name the pause length you can actually bill. An open-ended pause you cannot run in Stripe will bounce in support.

Pause Confirmation With Resume Date

12/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a pause confirmation for [RESUME DATE] that sets expectations, names what remains, and gives one resume CTA. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a billing-ops writer who confirms a pause with a real resume date. <context> The pause is on. I need a confirmation email I can paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or my ESP. Not a save-offer. Not a marketing newsletter. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Resume date: [RESUME DATE] - What stays saved: [WHAT STAYS] - What they will be charged on resume, if I know: [RESUME CHARGE OR UNKNOWN] - How to resume early: [RESUME URL] - Support path: [SUPPORT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 confirmation emails plus subject and preview. First screen must name [RESUME DATE]. List [WHAT STAYS]. If [RESUME CHARGE OR UNKNOWN] is unknown, write that the next invoice follows their plan and mark [VERIFY]. One resume-early CTA. No upsell. No invented percent off the resume invoice. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a resume date or a price. - Do not add a discount to thank them for pausing. - Do not write a 3-email pause series here. - Keep each body under 140 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, Resume CTA. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Put the real resume date from billing, not a date you hope they want. A wrong date creates a chargeback later.

Mid Pause Check In

13/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a mid-pause check-in for [PRODUCT] that asks if [RESUME DATE] still works and offers help, not a surprise charge. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a retention writer who checks in mid-pause without surprising anyone with a charge. <context> The account is paused on [PRODUCT]. Resume is [RESUME DATE]. I need a mid-pause email. Not dunning. Not a win-back discount. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Resume date: [RESUME DATE] - What they can do now (extend once, resume early, cancel): [OPTIONS I CAN HONOR] - Extend terms if any: [EXTEND TERMS OR NONE] - Tone: [LIGHT / PLAIN] - From-name: [FROM NAME] - URLs: [RESUME URL], [EXTEND URL OR NONE], [CANCEL URL] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Ask if [RESUME DATE] still works. List only [OPTIONS I CAN HONOR]. If [EXTEND TERMS OR NONE] is NONE, do not offer an extension. Do not invent a percent to come back early. One primary CTA (resume or reply). </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not invent an extra pause month. - Do not threaten a surprise charge. - Keep each body under 130 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTAs. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send this at the midpoint, not the day before billing. The day-before email is a different prompt.

Pause Ending Soon Email

14/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a pause-ending-soon email that names [RESUME DATE] and [WHAT BILLS NEXT] so they are not surprised. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a billing-ops writer who warns that a pause is ending. <context> Pause on [PRODUCT] ends on [RESUME DATE]. I need a sendable heads-up email. Not a promo. Not a cancel-guilt letter. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Resume date: [RESUME DATE] - What bills next, in my words: [WHAT BILLS NEXT] - How to keep pause or cancel if I allow it: [OPTIONS I CAN HONOR] - Update-payment URL if needed: [PAYMENT URL OR NONE] - Resume-early URL: [RESUME URL] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Lead with [RESUME DATE] and [WHAT BILLS NEXT]. If a dollar amount is missing, write [VERIFY] instead of guessing. List only [OPTIONS I CAN HONOR]. No invented percent off the resume invoice. One primary CTA (stay the course or update payment). </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a price or a discount percent. - Do not move [RESUME DATE]. - Do not write we missed you as a joke about billing. - Keep each body under 140 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, [VERIFY] list. I will paste one into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send this a few days before resume, with the invoice amount you can stand behind. Guessing the charge is how you get angry tickets.

Pause Versus Cancel Compare

15/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a compare email that puts [PAUSE TERMS] next to cancel outcomes for [PRODUCT] and lets them pick without a fake percent. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who compares pause and cancel in one short email. <context> The customer is choosing on [PRODUCT]. I can state [PAUSE TERMS] and [CANCEL OUTCOME] only. I need a sendable compare email. Not a pricing grid with invented percents. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Pause terms I can run: [PAUSE TERMS] - What cancel actually does (access end, data, refunds): [CANCEL OUTCOME] - Pause URL: [PAUSE URL] - Cancel URL: [CANCEL URL] - Tone: [PLAIN / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Include a 4-row compare (access, data, billing, how to come back) using only my terms. Equal-weight CTAs. If a refund or percent is not in the inputs, write [VERIFY] or omit it. Do not add a coupon row. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not invent a refund policy. - Do not hide the cancel CTA. - Keep the compare to 4 rows. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, compare rows, CTAs. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Keep both paths honest. If cancel keeps access until period end, say so. A lie in the compare table ends the relationship.

Card Failed Day Zero

16/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a day-zero failed-payment email for [PRODUCT] that names [AMOUNT AND DATE] and one update-card CTA, no shame. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a billing-ops writer who writes failed-payment emails that get the card updated. <context> Payment just failed for [PRODUCT]. I need a day-zero email. Not a win-back. Not a cancel survey. Not a coupon for paying. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Amount and failed date: [AMOUNT AND DATE] - Card hint I am allowed to show (last 4 or brand only): [CARD HINT OR NONE] - Update-card URL: [PAYMENT URL] - What happens if they ignore it: [NEXT STEP I CAN STATE] - Tone: [CALM / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. First 3 lines: payment failed, [AMOUNT AND DATE], one update CTA. If [CARD HINT OR NONE] is none, do not invent last 4. State [NEXT STEP I CAN STATE] in one line. No discount for paying. No we value you paragraph before the CTA. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent an amount, date, or discount percent. - Do not invent a last-4. - Do not threaten collections I did not authorize. - Keep each body under 120 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTA. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Lead with update the card, not we are disappointed. Shame does not recover a Visa.

Retry Reminder Before Next Attempt

17/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a retry reminder for [NEXT RETRY DATE] that tells them the card will be tried again and how to update it first. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a billing-ops writer who warns before the next auto-retry. <context> A payment already failed on [PRODUCT]. The next retry is [NEXT RETRY DATE]. I need a sendable reminder. Not day-zero. Not final cancel. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Amount still due: [AMOUNT] - Next retry date: [NEXT RETRY DATE] - Update-card URL: [PAYMENT URL] - What I will not do yet: [NOT YET CANCEL / NOT YET DOWNGRADE] - Tone: [PLAIN / DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Say we will try the card again on [NEXT RETRY DATE] for [AMOUNT]. Tell them how to update first via [PAYMENT URL]. Honor [NOT YET CANCEL / NOT YET DOWNGRADE]. No invented retry count. No percent off if they pay today. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a retry date, amount, or discount percent. - Do not say this is the last notice if it is not. - Do not add a save offer. - Keep each body under 120 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTA. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Put the real retry date from your billing retries. A wrong date makes them ignore the later final notice.

Update Card Before Cutoff

18/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a cutoff warning for [GRACE END DATE] that states access risk in plain words and one update-card link field. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a billing-ops writer who writes the cutoff warning before access changes. <context> Payment is still failing on [PRODUCT]. Grace ends [GRACE END DATE]. I need a sendable email. Not a marketing win-back. Not a legal demand letter. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Amount due: [AMOUNT] - Grace end date: [GRACE END DATE] - What actually happens at cutoff: [ACCESS CHANGE] - Update-card URL: [PAYMENT URL] - Support path: [SUPPORT] - Tone: [DIRECT / CALM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. State [AMOUNT], [GRACE END DATE], and [ACCESS CHANGE] in the first screen. One update CTA. One support line. No invented late fee or percent penalty. No we will miss you. Subject should be readable as a billing alert, not a promo. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a date, fee, or discount percent. - Do not claim access ends if I said it continues to period end. - Do not add a coupon to pay. - Keep each body under 130 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTA. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Use the grace end date your system actually enforces. Soft threats you will not keep train people to ignore dunning.

Final Notice Before Cancel

19/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a final-notice dunning email for [CANCEL IF UNPAID DATE] that is direct, lists [AMOUNT], and still one CTA. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a billing-ops writer who writes a true final notice before cancel for non-payment. <context> This is the last dunning email for [PRODUCT] before [CANCEL IF UNPAID DATE]. I need copy I can paste. Not a win-back. Not a survey. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Amount due: [AMOUNT] - Cancel-if-unpaid date: [CANCEL IF UNPAID DATE] - What happens to data after cancel: [DATA POLICY] - Update-card URL: [PAYMENT URL] - Support path: [SUPPORT] - Tone: [DIRECT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Label it a final notice in the subject or first line. Name [AMOUNT] and [CANCEL IF UNPAID DATE]. State [DATA POLICY] in one line. One update CTA. One support line. No invented collection agency. No last-chance 20 percent off. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a late fee. - Do not invent a lawyer or collections step. - Do not write this is your last chance to save 20 percent. - Keep each body under 140 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTA. I will paste one into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Only use this when cancel really is next. If you still have two retries left, this is the cutoff email, not the final one.

Payment Recovered Thank You

20/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a payment-recovered thank-you for [PRODUCT] that confirms [AMOUNT] cleared and access stays on, no upsell. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a billing-ops writer who confirms a recovered payment and then stops. <context> The failed payment on [PRODUCT] now cleared. I need a thank-you plus receipt email. Not an upgrade pitch. Not a review ask. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Amount that cleared: [AMOUNT] - Date it cleared: [CLEAR DATE] - Next billing date if I know it: [NEXT BILL DATE OR UNKNOWN] - Receipt or invoice URL: [RECEIPT URL OR NONE] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Confirm [AMOUNT] on [CLEAR DATE]. Say access stays on. If [NEXT BILL DATE OR UNKNOWN] is unknown, omit a next date rather than inventing one. If [RECEIPT URL OR NONE] is a URL, one receipt CTA. No discount, no upgrade, no sorry we nagged essay longer than one line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent an amount, date, or discount percent. - Do not add a second product offer. - Do not write a 4-paragraph apology. - Keep each body under 110 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, optional receipt CTA. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Stop after thanks plus the receipt facts. An upsell in the recovered-payment email feels like a shakedown.

Win-back

Thirty Day What Changed Win-back

21/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a 30-day win-back for people who left [PRODUCT] that leads with [WHAT CHANGED] and no invented discount percent. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who writes a 30-day win-back from real product change, not from a invented coupon. <context> They cancelled [PRODUCT] about 30 days ago. I can talk about [WHAT CHANGED]. I need a sendable email. Not a welcome series. Not dunning. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - What actually shipped or changed: [WHAT CHANGED] - Cancel reason if known: [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] - Offer I can honor, or NONE: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] - Return URL: [RETURN URL] - Stop-these-emails URL: [UNSUBSCRIBE] - Tone: [PLAIN / WARM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Open on [WHAT CHANGED], not on we miss you. Tie to [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] only if I gave one. If [OFFER I CAN HONOR] is NONE, do not add a percent. If it has terms, copy them exactly. One return CTA. One stop-emailing line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a shipped feature. - Do not invent a testimonial. - Do not write a 5-email win-back in this pass. - Keep each body under 160 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTAs. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Only list changes that shipped. A win-back that promises a feature still on the roadmap gets you a second cancel.

Reason Matched Win-back Email

22/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a win-back email matched to [CHURN REASON] that only uses [OFFER I CAN HONOR] if you supplied terms. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who matches win-back copy to the cancel reason. <context> They left [PRODUCT] for [CHURN REASON]. I need one sendable win-back email. A price cut is allowed only if [OFFER I CAN HONOR] contains terms. Not a survey (that is a different category). </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Cancel reason: [CHURN REASON] - What is different now that answers that reason: [WHAT CHANGED] - Offer I can honor, or NONE: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] - Return URL: [RETURN URL] - Unsubscribe: [UNSUBSCRIBE] - Tone: [DIRECT / WARM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Name the reason without mocking it. Show [WHAT CHANGED] as the answer. Include [OFFER I CAN HONOR] only if it is not NONE, and then copy the terms with no extra percent. If the reason is price and offer is NONE, offer a lower plan only if I named one inside [WHAT CHANGED] or [OFFER I CAN HONOR]. One return CTA, one unsubscribe line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not invent a competitor flaw. - Do not write they were wrong to leave. - Keep each body under 160 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, CTAs. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: If you do not know the reason, use the unknown variant. Guessing they left on price and sending a coupon can insult a product-gap cancel.

Win-back With My Offer Only

23/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a win-back that repeats [OFFER TERMS] exactly and writes [VERIFY] if a percent is missing instead of guessing. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a line-accurate win-back writer. You repeat my offer terms. You do not improve them. <context> I have [OFFER TERMS] I can honor for people who left [PRODUCT]. I need a sendable win-back. If a percent is missing, mark [VERIFY]. Do not invent one. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Offer terms, copied from billing: [OFFER TERMS] - Expiry I can defend, or NONE: [EXPIRY OR NONE] - What changed, if anything: [WHAT CHANGED OR NONE] - Return URL: [RETURN URL] - Unsubscribe: [UNSUBSCRIBE] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Audit [OFFER TERMS] for percents, dollars off, and free months. If a number is implied but not written, list it under [VERIFY] and do not fill it. Then write 2 emails plus subject and preview that use only written terms. Include [EXPIRY OR NONE] only if I gave a date. One return CTA. One unsubscribe line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not invent an expiry. - Do not add a second bonus gift. - Keep each body under 150 words. </constraints> <format> Return the audit, then Email A and Email B. I will paste one into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Paste the coupon or Stripe promo ID in the terms. If you only write come back cheaper, Claude should flag [VERIFY], not pick 20 percent.

Ninety Day Whats New Win-back

24/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a 90-day what's-new win-back for [PRODUCT] from [CHANGE LOG] you paste, then one return CTA. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a retention copywriter who turns a changelog into a 90-day win-back email. <context> They left [PRODUCT] about 90 days ago. I will paste [CHANGE LOG]. I need a sendable email. Not a release-notes dump. Not a invented seasonal percent. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Changelog or shipped notes: [CHANGE LOG] - Offer I can honor, or NONE: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] - Return URL: [RETURN URL] - Unsubscribe: [UNSUBSCRIBE] - Tone: [PLAIN / PRODUCT] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Pick 3 items from [CHANGE LOG] that a returning user would feel. Write 2 emails plus subject and preview that lead with those items. If [OFFER I CAN HONOR] is NONE, no percent. If it has terms, copy them at the end, not in the subject unless the terms are the whole point. One return CTA. One unsubscribe line. If the changelog is empty, say so and stop instead of inventing ships. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a changelog item or a discount percent. - Do not write 12 bullets. - Do not use we 10x-ed anything I did not write. - Keep each body under 170 words. </constraints> <format> Return the 3 items you kept, then Email A and Email B. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Paste a real changelog. Three shipped items beat a vague we have grown a lot since you left.

Last Win-back Plus Easy Out

25/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a last win-back for [PRODUCT] that offers a return path and a clear stop-emailing link, without a fake percent. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a retention copywriter who writes the last win-back and then honors silence. <context> This is the last win-back I will send for [PRODUCT]. I need a sendable email with a return path and a clear stop. Not a fake final 48-hour sale unless I gave an expiry. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - What I can still offer: [OFFER I CAN HONOR OR NONE] - Return URL: [RETURN URL] - Stop-emailing URL: [UNSUBSCRIBE] - Whether I will email them again: [NO MORE / ONLY IF THEY OPT IN] - Tone: [PLAIN / WARM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Say this is the last win-back. Give the return path. Give [OFFER I CAN HONOR OR NONE] only as written, with no invented percent. Put [UNSUBSCRIBE] in its own short paragraph, not in 6-point footer voice in the body. State [NO MORE / ONLY IF THEY OPT IN] in one line. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a deadline. - Do not hide unsubscribe. - Do not write we will keep checking in if I said no more. - Keep each body under 140 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, Return CTA, Stop CTA. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Make unsubscribe as easy as return. A last email that hides the opt-out is how you get spam complaints, not reactivations.

Exit Interview

Day After Cancel Interview

26/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a day-after exit interview email for [PRODUCT] that asks two questions and thanks them, with no save pitch. Paste the subject and body into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP, then send.

You are a research writer who runs a day-after exit interview by email. <context> They cancelled [PRODUCT] yesterday. I need a sendable interview email. Two questions. Thanks. No save offer. Not a win-back. Not dunning. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Cancel date: [CANCEL DATE] - Access end if different: [ACCESS END OR SAME] - Two questions I want answered: [QUESTION 1], [QUESTION 2] - Reply or form: [REPLY OR FORM URL] - Tone: [PLAIN / WARM] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Thank them. Confirm [CANCEL DATE] and [ACCESS END OR SAME] only as I wrote them. Ask [QUESTION 1] and [QUESTION 2] only. Point answers to [REPLY OR FORM URL]. No offer. No we hope you come back paragraph that is actually a pitch. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent. - Do not add a third question. - Do not write a save CTA. - Keep each body under 130 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Do not attach a coupon to the day-after interview. You asked for truth. A discount in the same email buys nicer lies.

Seven Day Deeper Interview

27/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a 7-day deeper interview for [CHURN REASON] that asks what would have kept them, still no invented offer. Paste subject, preview, and body into your billing tool or ESP, then send.

You are a research writer who runs a 7-day deeper exit interview. <context> They have been cancelled from [PRODUCT] for about a week. I know [CHURN REASON] or I do not. I need a sendable interview, not a win-back offer. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Reason if known: [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] - What I already asked on day one, if anything: [DAY ONE QUESTIONS OR NONE] - Deeper questions I want: [DEEPER QUESTIONS] - Reply or form: [REPLY OR FORM URL] - Tone: [PLAIN / CURIOUS] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. If [CHURN REASON OR UNKNOWN] is known, open by restating it and asking what would have kept them. Do not repeat [DAY ONE QUESTIONS OR NONE] word for word. Ask only [DEEPER QUESTIONS]. No offer terms. If I left a question blank, do not invent a leading question about price. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a reason. - Do not turn the close into a return CTA. - Do not write we have a special offer if you reply. - Keep each body under 150 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body. Ready to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send this only if they already cancelled. If cancel is still pending, this prompt will read as a save email in disguise.

Competitor Switch Interview

28/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a competitor-switch interview for people who named [COMPETITOR OR OTHER TOOL] that asks what they moved for, without trash talk. Paste the copy into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, or your ESP and send.

You are a research writer who interviews people who switched tools, without trash talk. <context> They cancelled [PRODUCT] and named [COMPETITOR OR OTHER TOOL]. I need a sendable interview email. Not a comparison landing page. Not a win-back coupon. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - What they named: [COMPETITOR OR OTHER TOOL] - What I will not say about that tool: [OFF LIMITS] - Questions I want (max 3): [QUESTIONS] - Reply or form: [REPLY OR FORM URL] - Tone: [CURIOUS / PLAIN] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Name the switch without mocking [COMPETITOR OR OTHER TOOL]. Honor [OFF LIMITS]. Ask [QUESTIONS] only. Invite a short reply. No offer. No we are better at X unless I put that in the questions as a thing I want them to confirm or deny. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent competitor flaws or pricing. - Do not invent a discount percent to come back. - Do not write a feature matrix. - Keep each body under 140 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Ask what they moved for, not why the other tool is worse. You want the gap, not a dunk they will not write down.

Founder Led Exit Interview

29/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a founder-led interview ask for a [PLAN OR MRR BAND] cancel that invites a 15-minute reply or call. Load the draft in Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP and send from there.

You are a founder ghostwriter who asks for a short exit interview after a meaningful cancel. <context> A [PLAN OR MRR BAND] account left [PRODUCT]. I need a sendable interview ask from me. A call or a written reply is enough. Not a save offer unless I put terms in the inputs (default is none). </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Plan or band: [PLAN OR MRR BAND] - Customer name: [CUSTOMER NAME] - What I know about their use: [USAGE NOTES] - Call link or reply-only: [CALL PATH OR REPLY] - My name: [FROM NAME] - Voice notes: [VOICE] - Offer I can honor if they want to stay, or NONE: [OFFER I CAN HONOR] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails (120-180 words) plus subject and preview. Sound like [VOICE]. Ask for 15 minutes or a written reply. Reference [USAGE NOTES] without inventing tickets. If [OFFER I CAN HONOR] is NONE, do not add a percent. If it has terms, keep them in a PS, not in the subject. Make it easy to ignore the call and still answer two lines. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a discount percent or a metric. - Do not write I am personally crushed. - Do not invent a calendar they cannot book. - One interview ask, not a pitch deck. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body, optional PS. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Send from the founder address and keep the calendar link real. A fake Calendly in an exit interview is worse than no email.

Interview Thank You Stay In Touch

30/30

โœจ What it does

Claude writes a thank-you after [INTERVIEW NOTES] that confirms what you heard and offers a quiet stay-in-touch list, not a coupon. Paste the fields into your billing portal or ESP, then send.

You are a research writer who closes an exit interview with a thank-you and an optional quiet list. <context> They answered an exit interview about [PRODUCT]. I will paste [INTERVIEW NOTES]. I need a sendable thank-you. Not a win-back coupon. Not a case-study release. </context> <inputs> - Product: [PRODUCT] - Their notes or quotes I may use internally: [INTERVIEW NOTES] - What I will not publish: [OFF LIMITS] - Stay-in-touch list I actually run: [LIST NAME OR NONE] - Opt-in URL if any: [OPT IN URL OR NONE] - From-name: [FROM NAME] </inputs> <task> Write 2 emails plus subject and preview. Open by restating one thing from [INTERVIEW NOTES] in my words (not a fake quote). Honor [OFF LIMITS]. Thank them. If [LIST NAME OR NONE] is NONE, do not invent a newsletter. If it exists, offer one opt-in via [OPT IN URL OR NONE] with no discount attached. No return CTA unless they asked to come back in the notes, and even then no invented percent. </task> <constraints> - Do not invent a quote or a discount percent. - Do not publish them as a testimonial in this email. - Do not add a second product pitch. - Keep each body under 130 words. </constraints> <format> Return Email A and Email B with Subject, Preview, Body. Star the one to paste into Stripe, Chargebee, or your ESP. </format>

๐Ÿ’ก

Pro tip: Repeat one sentence they actually said. A generic thanks for the feedback email tells them you did not read it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Those pages cover outreach, welcome flows, nurture, launches, and general sendable mail. This page is only churn mail: cancel survey, save offer, pause, dunning, win-back, and exit interview. If you need a welcome series or a cold email, use the other pages.
It should not. Every save-offer and win-back prompt tells Claude to copy [OFFER I CAN HONOR] or [OFFER TERMS] exactly and to write [VERIFY] when a percent is missing. If you did not give a percent, do not accept one in the draft. Pause, downgrade, a call, or a feature unlock can stand without a coupon.
Paste subject, preview, and body into Stripe Billing, Chargebee, Paddle, or your ESP (Customer.io, Braze, Mailchimp) in the matching campaign or customer-email slot. You still set the from-name, the live payment URL, and the segment. These prompts do not write HTML templates.
Dunning is involuntary: the card failed and you need them to update payment before you cancel for non-payment. Win-back is after they already chose to leave. Do not mix a coupon into a failed-payment email, and do not send a card-update CTA to someone who cancelled on purpose.
Yes. Use Skip Survey Rescue for people who closed the modal, and Reason Coded Survey Follow Up when you need the answer in email so later save or pause sends can match the code. If cancel is already final, say so in the prompt. Do not tell them cancel is still pending if billing already ended the subscription.
