AI Tool Review

Is Hailuo AI worth it in 2026?

Hailuo 3.0 is live, and its plans count video in seconds as well as credits. This review covers what each plan buys, what a clip costs at list price and where the free trial stops.

By Louis Corneloup·Updated October 18, 2026

The quick answer

Yes, for a creator who needs watermark-free video every month. Standard costs $14.99 a month at list price, with 1,000 credits, and on Hailuo 3.0, billed monthly, its allowance is about 143 seconds of 768p video. Pro at $54.99 is the cheapest single plan for 40 six-second 1080p clips on the older Hailuo 2.3 model. The catches are real: there is no standing free allowance, refunds are not supported, and the watermark rule is missing from the top two plans’ bullets. Runway’s free tier gives 125 credits that never expire, which is the cleaner way to test first.

Hailuo is worth paying for if you need watermark-free video every month, and Standard at $14.99 a month is the lowest regular entry price of the two tools priced here. The catch is that Hailuo sells credits and seconds rather than videos, so what a plan produces depends on the model and resolution you pick. The newest model, Hailuo 3.0 (MiniMax H3), is now live and counts in seconds. The older Hailuo 2.3 still counts in credits per clip.

This review works through the numbers on Hailuo’s own pricing page and on Runway’s pricing page, both read on 10 October 2026. It does not rank the output quality of the two tools. We have not run a blind test, so the comparison covers what each plan buys, not how the video looks.

What you get

  • ✓Standard at $14.99 a month is cheaper than Runway’s $15 Standard, with 1,000 credits to Runway’s 625. Its plan bullets also list watermark-free downloads.
  • ✓On Hailuo 3.0, Standard gives about 143 seconds of 768p video a month, or roughly 23 six-second clips.
  • ✓Master has the lowest price per credit, under 1 cent against about 1.5 cents on Standard.
  • ✓Hailuo 2.3-Fast cuts a six-second 1080p clip to 50 credits, against 80 on the main 2.3 model.
  • ✓Failed generations cost no credits, which the FAQ states plainly.
  • ✓Ultra and Max include unlimited Hailuo 01 with no credit cost, the most useful perk for heavy use of that model.
  • ✓Hailuo’s own FAQ says every plan gets the same video quality, so an upgrade buys volume, speed and watermark removal.

The trade-offs

  • ✕No standing free allowance. New users get three unlimited days, then the free plan depends on remaining credits. Runway gives 125 credits that never expire.
  • ✕No refunds. The FAQ says refunds are not currently supported.
  • ✕Offer prices return to regular prices. Standard’s $7.99, Pro’s $24.99 and Master’s $63.99 offers end, and the regular prices come back.
  • ✕The watermark rule is missing from the top tiers’ bullets. Confirm it on the plan screen before you pay $124.99 or $199.99 a month.
  • ✕Clip counts depend on resolution. Standard covers 12 six-second 1080p clips on Hailuo 2.3, and 10-second 1080p needs Pro or higher.
  • ✕The Max credit figure differs. The plan text says 20,000, while a notice to existing Max members says renewals include 27,000.
  • ✕Hailuo 3.0 seconds are not priced on the page. The pricing page does not explain how its seconds map to plan credits, so this review does not quote a per-clip dollar figure for 3.0.

Worth it if…

  • →You need watermark-free clips every month and want the lowest regular entry price for them.
  • →You plan to make 40 or more six-second 1080p clips a month on Hailuo 2.3, where Pro is the cheapest single plan.
  • →You generate most of your clips on Hailuo 01, where Ultra or Max gives unlimited use at no credit cost.
  • →You will use the three unlimited days to test your prompts before you pay.

Skip it if…

  • →You want a free allowance that keeps working month to month. Runway’s free plan is the clearer test.
  • →You need a refund if the output does not suit you, since refunds are not supported.
  • →You need 10-second 1080p clips, which starts at Pro at $54.99 a month before any offer.
  • →You need a clear per-clip dollar price for Hailuo 3.0, since the pricing page does not state one.

What each Hailuo plan costs and includes

Hailuo’s regular monthly prices are $14.99 (Standard), $54.99 (Pro), $94.99 (Master), $124.99 (Ultra) and $199.99 (Max). Each paid plan includes a monthly credit allowance of 1,000, 4,500, 10,000, 12,000 and 20,000 credits. Standard is the natural starting point for an individual creator. The price per credit is about 1.5 cents on Standard and under 1 cent on Master, the lowest rate on the list.

Hailuo also shows limited-time offers beside the regular prices: Standard at $7.99, Pro at $24.99 and Master at $63.99. The page says the regular price returns when each offer ends. Budget on the regular figure and treat the offer as a bonus, not as the plan’s price.

One figure needs checking before you buy the top tier. The Max plan text lists 20,000 credits a month, but a notice shown to existing Max members says their renewals now include 27,000 credits, alongside a one-time bonus added when Hailuo 3.0 launched. Confirm the allowance on the plan screen at the moment you subscribe.

Hailuo 3.0 counts seconds, and Standard covers about 23 clips

Hailuo 3.0 (MiniMax H3) is Hailuo’s newest model, and its plan cards list the video seconds each monthly plan includes. At 768p, Standard gets about 143 seconds a month, Pro about 643, Master about 1,500 and Max about 3,857. At 480p the same four plans give 250, 1,125, 2,625 and 6,750 seconds. Those figures are for monthly billing. Yearly billing shows the same seconds at lower per-second rates.

For a six-second clip, that works out to about 23 clips a month on Standard at 768p, about 107 on Pro, 250 on Master and 642 on Max. Hailuo does not explain on the pricing page how those seconds relate to the plan price, so this review counts clips and does not put a dollar figure on each one. New users get three unlimited days, which is enough time to check your prompts on 3.0 before you subscribe.

Hailuo 2.3 still runs on credits, and the clip math is simple

The FAQ still prices Hailuo 2.3 and 2.0 per clip in credits. A six-second 1080p clip uses 80 credits, the same clip on Hailuo 2.3-Fast uses 50, and a six-second 768p clip uses 25. Failed generations cost nothing, so a prompt that does not render does not burn the allowance.

On Standard’s 1,000 credits, that means 12 six-second 1080p clips on 2.3, or 20 on the Fast model. At list price, one 1080p clip costs about $1.25 on Standard, and about $0.75 on Fast. You pay for the whole plan either way, so the clip count matters more than the per-clip figure.

Here is the scenario for a creator who needs 40 six-second 1080p clips a month on Hailuo 2.3. That is 3,200 credits. Standard cannot deliver it in one month. Pro can, at $54.99, or about $1.37 a clip. Master would cost about $2.37 a clip for the same 40, because you pay for 10,000 credits and use about a third of them. If the Pro offer of $24.99 is still running when you read this, the same 40 clips cost about 62 cents each, but that is an offer, and it ends.

The free plan is a trial, not an allowance

This is where Hailuo gives up ground to Runway. Runway’s free plan includes 125 one-time credits that never expire. Hailuo’s pricing page publishes no standing monthly video allowance. New users get three days of unlimited access as a welcome gift, and after that the free plan’s video count depends on the credits left.

If you downgrade to the free plan, the account switches when the current plan expires. Refunds are not currently supported, so treat the three unlimited days as the test window and have your prompts ready before the clock runs out.

Watermarks, commercial use and the top two tiers

Watermark removal is a subscriber perk. The FAQ says buying credits alone will not get you watermark-free downloads, and the bullets for Standard, Pro and Master list them. The same FAQ says that videos you can download without a watermark are yours, and that you keep full rights to them for commercial use. In practice, commercial work means a paid plan. A watermarked free download should not go into a client deliverable.

The top two plans need a closer read. The Ultra and Max bullets do not repeat the watermark line, even though the FAQ treats watermark removal as a subscriber perk. What the top tiers do add is unlimited Hailuo 01 at no credit cost on Ultra, and on Hailuo 01 and 02 on Max. If most of your clips come from the older model, that is the most useful perk on the page. Confirm the watermark rule on the plan screen before you pay $124.99 or $199.99 a month.

Hailuo against Runway on the same credit math

Runway is the clearest alternative on price. Its Standard plan costs $15 a month, or $12 billed annually, for 625 credits a month. Its Gen-4.5 model uses 12 credits a second, so that plan buys about 52 seconds. Pro is $35 a month ($28 billed annually) for 2,250 credits, and Max is $95 a month ($76 billed annually) for 9,500.

Put the same need on both: 240 seconds of video a month, or 40 six-second clips. Runway needs 2,880 credits for that, more than Pro’s 2,250, so its cheapest covering plan is Max at $95 a month ($76 billed annually). Hailuo covers the same 40 six-second 1080p clips on 2.3 with Pro at $54.99. Both figures are the vendors’ own credit counts. The models and resolutions differ, so this is a price comparison, not a quality test.

Getting more from the credits you pay for

Academy data: our prompt library holds a 30-prompt Hailuo collection across six categories, and the Academy has no Hailuo tutorial yet. Start with the Hailuo prompt collection before you spend credits on a first render.

Failed generations are free, but a clip that renders and then gets rejected is not. Every rerun spends credits again, so a prompt that gives you a usable clip on the first full run is the best use of your allowance.

The verdict

Is Hailuo AI worth it in 2026? For a creator who needs watermark-free clips every month, yes. Standard at $14.99 a month is the lowest regular entry price of the two tools priced here, and on Hailuo 3.0 it covers about 143 seconds of 768p video. For volume on Hailuo 2.3, Pro at $54.99 is the cheapest single plan for 40 six-second 1080p clips. Hailuo’s FAQ says every plan gets the same quality, so the price buys volume, speed and watermark removal, not better pixels.

The caveats are real. There is no standing free allowance, so the three unlimited days are a trial, not a free tier. Refunds are not supported. The top tiers leave the watermark line out of their bullets, and the Max credit figure differs between the plan text and a renewal notice. If you want a free test whose credits never expire, start with Runway’s free plan, then decide whether Hailuo’s credit math fits your clip volume better.

Better alternatives?

If it is not the right fit, these are worth a look.

Runway

Standard is $15 a month ($12 billed annually) for 625 credits, and the free plan gives 125 credits that never expire. The clearest way to test before paying.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hailuo AI worth it in 2026?▾

For a creator who needs watermark-free video every month, yes. Standard is $14.99 a month at the regular price, with 1,000 credits, and on Hailuo 3.0 it covers about 143 seconds of 768p video on monthly billing. Without a standing free allowance, it is a paid tool once the three-day trial ends.

How much does Hailuo AI cost per month?▾

The regular monthly prices are $14.99 (Standard), $54.99 (Pro), $94.99 (Master), $124.99 (Ultra) and $199.99 (Max), read on 10 October 2026. Limited-time offers show Standard at $7.99, Pro at $24.99 and Master at $63.99, and the regular price returns when each offer ends.

Is there a free Hailuo AI plan?▾

There is a free plan, but it is not a standing allowance. The pricing page publishes no monthly video quota for it. New users get three days of unlimited access, after which the free plan depends on the credits left. Watermark removal is a subscriber perk, so free downloads should be assumed to carry a watermark.

Can I use Hailuo videos commercially?▾

Hailuo’s FAQ says yes for videos you can download without a watermark: you keep full rights to them. Watermark removal is a subscriber perk, so commercial use runs through a paid plan. On Ultra and Max, check the watermark rule on the plan screen, because their bullet lists do not repeat it.

How many videos does Hailuo Standard make?▾

On Hailuo 2.3, Standard’s 1,000 credits make 12 six-second 1080p clips, 20 on the Fast model, or about 40 six-second 768p clips. On Hailuo 3.0, billed monthly, the allowance is about 143 seconds at 768p, roughly 23 six-second clips. Pick the model first, because the count changes with it.

Is Hailuo better than Runway or Kling?▾

This review does not rank output quality, because we have not run a blind test. For a free test, Runway’s free tier is the clearer option. At the entry tier, Hailuo’s $14.99 buys 1,000 credits, while Runway’s $15 buys 625. Kling has its own review on this site. Pick on the clip volume and resolution you need.

Can I get a refund on Hailuo?▾

Hailuo’s FAQ says refunds are not currently supported, so use the three unlimited days to test your prompts before you pay. Top-up credits expire on December 31 of the year after you buy them.
