Is HeadshotPro worth it in 2026?

What $29 to $59 buys, how the packages shrank since 2024, the refund catch, and when a photographer or a free prompt is the better route.

The quick answer

HeadshotPro is worth it for job seekers and remote teams who need a usable LinkedIn or company-page photo quickly and cannot easily book a photographer. Packages are a one-time $29, $39 or $59, with no subscription. The prices have not moved since at least November 2024, but the number of headshots per package has: Professional went from 100 to 50 and Executive from 200 to 70. The refund guarantee only applies if you have not downloaded any photo and it is within 14 days. Professional at $39 is the best value: it adds the free redo that Basic lacks.

Short answer: yes for a quick professional profile photo, as long as you buy Professional and check the results before downloading. As of October 29, 2026, HeadshotPro’s pricing page sells three one-time packages: Basic $29 for 30 headshots, Professional $39 for 50 and Executive $59 for 70. In November 2024 the same $39 bought 100 headshots and $59 bought 200.

So the price stayed put while the volume roughly halved, and HeadshotPro now leans on speed, resolution and edits instead. Its own refund page is candid about output quality: “you will get some ‘wacky’ photos in your order” and “most photos won’t be keepers.” Below: the package table, the history, the refund terms, a job-seeker cost comparison and what users report.

What you get

  • ✓One-time price: $29, $39 or $59 with no subscription.
  • ✓Fast: about 30 minutes on Professional and 15 on Executive.
  • ✓Free redo: on Professional and Executive within 14 days.
  • ✓Clear data terms: inputs auto-delete after 30 days and are not used for training.
  • ✓Team credits never expire: volume discounts up to 50%.

The trade-offs

  • ✕Fewer headshots for the money: Professional fell from 100 to 50 since November 2024.
  • ✕Refund lost on download: any download voids the self-serve refund.
  • ✕Many misses: the vendor says most photos won’t be keepers.
  • ✕Basic has no redo: the cheapest package is the riskiest.
  • ✕Rating is self-displayed: the 4.7 figure comes from the vendor’s page.

Worth it if…

  • →Job seekers who need a professional LinkedIn or CV photo this week.
  • →Remote teams that want matching portraits without coordinating photographers.
  • →Anyone who has no recent photo and no easy access to a studio.

Skip it if…

  • →You need a photo that is unmistakably you for press, publishing or acting work.
  • →You are happy to iterate with free image prompts and accept less consistency.
  • →You want many varied images: 2024 packages gave far more per dollar.

How have HeadshotPro’s packages changed?

Archived copies of HeadshotPro’s own pricing page show prices frozen and packages trimmed:

November 8, 2024: Basic $29 for 40 headshots with 4 styles and a 3-hour turnaround; Professional $39 for 100 headshots with 10 backgrounds and outfits in 2 hours; Executive $59 for 200 headshots with 20 styles in 1 hour (snapshot).
July 18, 2025: the FAQ still read “HeadshotPro starts at $29 for 40 AI headshots” (snapshot).
October 9, 2026: Basic $29 for 30 headshots, Professional $39 for 50 and Executive $59 for 70, with faster turnarounds of about 2 hours, 30 minutes and 15 minutes (snapshot). The live page matches on October 29.

By our arithmetic, a Professional headshot cost $0.39 in November 2024 and $0.78 now; Executive went from $0.30 to $0.84. In return the current packages add photo credits for edits (6, 26 or 46), a free redo on Professional and Executive, and 4K downloads on Executive.

HeadshotPro’s own estimate of what a photographer costs moved too. The 2024 and 2025 pages said “The average cost of professional headshots in the United States is $232.50 per session.” The current FAQ says “A traditional studio session typically costs $300 to $800 per person.” Both are the vendor’s figures, not independent price data.

The refund guarantee has two conditions

Every package carries what HeadshotPro calls a Realism Guarantee: if the headshots do not look like you, “you get a redo or a full refund.” The refund page lists the conditions for a self-serve full refund: you have not downloaded any photos from the order, and it has been less than 14 days since you paid. Most refunds are processed within one business day.

The first condition is the catch. Download one photo you half-like and you lose the self-serve refund. Review the whole set in the browser first, and decide inside the 14 days.

Data handling is spelled out on the pricing page: uploaded selfies and generated results auto-delete after 30 days, download links last 7 days, and “Your photos are never used to train AI models.” Save what you keep promptly.

What does a job seeker pay: HeadshotPro, a studio or a free prompt?

For one person updating a LinkedIn profile or CV, the realistic choice is between Basic and Professional. The $10 difference buys 20 more headshots, 20 more edit credits and the free redo, which matters because likeness is the usual failure. Professional at $39 is the sensible floor.

Against a studio, even HeadshotPro’s older, lower estimate of $232.50 a session is about six times the Professional price (our arithmetic). The trade-off is control: a photographer can coach expression and fix lighting on the spot, and the photo is unambiguously you.

The free route is a general image model plus a good prompt. Our LinkedIn headshot prompts and professional headshot prompts packs are built for that. Expect to spend more time iterating and less consistency than a dedicated service that trains on your selfies.

Is the Team plan worth it for a company?

Teams buy credits, and “One credit is one person’s full shoot” with 40 headshots and one free retry each. Discounts “start at 20% off at 5 credits and climb to 50% off at 1,000 or more,” stack across lifetime purchases, and credits never expire. The page prices 100 credits at $2,535, or $25.35 a person at 35% off.

For a distributed team the main gain is consistency: an admin picks the style pool so every portrait matches, with bulk download and reminders. SSO is an add-on billed at the identity provider’s cost, and a SOC 2 Type II report and DPA are available through the trust center. There are no seat licences or renewals.

What do users say about HeadshotPro?

HeadshotPro’s pricing page shows 4.7 from 3,604 reviews, citing Trustpilot. That is the vendor’s own display of its rating.

When HeadshotPro was posted as a Show HN on Hacker News in March 2023 (138 points, 123 comments), the reaction split. One commenter praised it as solving “a real problem” because professional photos are “stressful, time consuming and expensive.” Another objected that “They all have skin that’s too perfect.” Those comments concern the 2023 models, but the airbrushed look is still the criticism to check in your own results.

A June 2026 analysis of one- to three-star app reviews by Unstar ranked HeadshotPro third of five AI headshot apps and summarised its complaints as per-person cost for teams and corporate portraits that miss the face. Likeness, in other words, is the failure mode across the category, which is why the redo and the no-download refund rule matter.

Academy data: of the 25 headshot prompt packs in our library, one, ChatGPT prompts for headshots, names HeadshotPro (counted October 29, 2026).

The verdict

Buy Professional at $39 if you need a credible profile photo fast: it costs a fraction of even HeadshotPro’s own lowest studio estimate, and its redo covers the likeness misses the vendor admits to. Skip Basic; saving $10 removes the redo. Skip HeadshotPro entirely if authenticity matters more than speed, or if you are content to work with free prompts.

What would change the answer: a return to 2024’s headshot counts, or a refund rule that survives a download. Until then, review every photo in the browser, keep the 14-day window in mind and download only once you are sure.
