Is Lumen5 worth it in 2026?
What each plan caps, what a video costs at ten a month, and which tier a marketer should actually buy.
The quick answer
Lumen5 is worth it for a marketer who turns articles and scripts into short videos every week, and Basic is the plan to price first: $19 a month billed yearly, with unlimited videos and no Lumen5 branding. Basic renders at 720p, so 1080p starts at Starter, $59 a month billed yearly. Pro at $149 a month billed yearly adds a custom watermark and your own fonts. The free plan lets you test five videos a month, but each one ends with a Lumen5 branded outro. Team has no public price.

Lumen5 is worth it for a marketer who turns articles into short videos every week, and the plan to buy is Basic at $19 a month billed yearly. It removes the Lumen5 branding and allows unlimited videos up to 10 minutes long, but it stops at 720p and caps AI voice minutes at 20 a month.
Lumen5 starts from a link, a script or a document. Its AI builds the first cut, then you bring in your own footage, brand kit and voiceover. For a team that already writes blog posts and newsletters, the appeal is simple: one article becomes a short video for a social feed. The open question is what it costs at real volume and where the caps bite.
The prices below come from Lumen5’s own plan data, read on 10 October 2026, and the cost per video is worked out at ten videos a month.

What you get
- ✓A useful paid tier: unlimited videos up to 10 minutes, with no Lumen5 branding.
- ✓A free plan that needs no card: five videos a month, each up to two minutes, enough to test the workflow on real posts.
- ✓Brand control rises with price: Pro adds a custom watermark, your own fonts and three brand kits.
- ✓Voice minutes count only when you publish, so drafts and experiments do not use up the allowance.
- ✓A clear yearly discount: 25.1% to 34.5% off the monthly price on each paid plan.
The trade-offs
- ✕720p on Basic. 1080p starts at Starter.
- ✕The free plan carries a Lumen5 outro on every video, so it cannot produce a clean client file.
- ✕Voice minutes are the real cap: Basic’s 20 a month is two full-length narrated videos.
- ✕Team has no public price, and the approval step and audit log sit only on Team.
- ✕The commercial terms are thin on the pricing page: stock is licensed for commercial use, but resale rules are not stated.
Worth it if…
- →A marketer or content lead who turns blog posts, newsletters or scripts into short branded videos on a steady schedule.
- →A solo creator who needs videos up to 10 minutes long with no Lumen5 outro, and can work at 720p on Basic.
- →A small business that needs its logo as a watermark and its own fonts on every export, which is the case for Pro.
Skip it if…
- →Anyone who needs 1080p on the cheapest paid plan: Basic cannot render it.
- →Anyone who needs a clean file for a client before paying: the free plan carries the outro.
- →Teams that need an approval step, single sign-on or an audit log without a sales call: those sit on Team only.
- →Creators whose videos are mostly generated shots, where a generation tool may fit better.
What Lumen5 does with a piece of writing
Lumen5 begins with the text you already have. Paste a link or a script, or upload a document, and the AI proposes scenes, stock footage and a voiceover. The editing after that is where your time goes, so test it on your own material first.
It also repurposes. Long videos can be cut into short clips, and animated explainer videos come from an add-on, sold by the animation minute at $10 each. For a marketer, the caps that matter are not the video count, which is unlimited from Basic up. They are resolution, video length, AI voice minutes and branding.
Basic is the plan to price first
Basic costs $29 a month billed monthly, or $19 a month billed yearly. The yearly rate saves $120 a year against twelve monthly payments, a 34.5% cut. For that you get unlimited videos up to 10 minutes long, no Lumen5 branding, 20 AI voice minutes a month, chat support, and the built-in color and font library. Your own font uploads come with Pro.
The catch is resolution. Basic renders at 720p and has no 1080p option. That is fine for a feed post and weak for anything shown on a large screen. If a platform or client expects 1080p, the first plan that renders it is Starter.
Voice minutes run out before videos do
Since every paid plan allows unlimited videos, the AI voice allowance is the limit you will hit first. Lumen5 says voice minutes are counted only when you publish, which is why experimenting costs nothing. If a narrated video runs its full 10 minutes and counts once at publication, Basic’s 20 minutes cover two full-length narrated videos, Starter’s 60 cover six, and Pro’s 180 cover eighteen.
How many narrated minutes you publish decides the plan, so time three or four of your own videos before choosing on the voice allowance alone.
Starter and Pro: what the higher prices buy
Starter costs $59 a month billed yearly, or $79 billed monthly. It adds 1080p rendering, 60 AI voice minutes, 200 image generations a month, two animation minutes, one voice clone and the Getty stock library. It still has one brand kit and no custom watermark.
Pro costs $149 a month billed yearly, or $199 billed monthly. It adds a custom watermark on every published video, your own font uploads, three brand kits, three workspaces, 180 voice minutes and five translations a month, which is 60 a year. It also includes Shutterstock editorial media, 500 image generations, five animation minutes and three voice clones. Pro is the plan for a small business that needs its logo and fonts on every export.
The free plan is a test, not a client file
You can start without a card. The free plan allows five videos a month, each up to two minutes, at 720p, with 2 AI voice minutes a month. Every video ends with a Lumen5 branded outro, and that outro is the real cost: a branded clip is not a clean file for a client.
Lumen5’s FAQ says the videos you create stay yours, even after you cancel. That makes the free plan a fair test, not a delivery tool.
The cost per video at ten videos a month
This is arithmetic on the plan prices above, for a marketer who publishes ten videos a month. On Basic billed yearly, that comes to $1.90 a video, against $2.90 billed monthly. Starter billed yearly comes to $5.90 a video and Pro billed yearly to $14.90.
The yearly term saves 34.5% on Basic ($120 a year), 25.3% on Starter ($240) and 25.1% on Pro ($600). Pick it only once the plan will stay in use for twelve months.
Team pricing starts at a quote
Team is the only plan without a public price, so the first step is a quote. The plan data lists three default seats, ten workspaces, single sign-on, an approval step before publishing, an audit log and unlimited translations. Lumen5’s FAQ says Team customers can arrange annual invoicing.
Pro allows team invites but publishes no seat count, and it has no approval step or audit log. If a team needs sign-off, ask for a Team quote first.
Academy data: where Lumen5 sits in our video catalog
Academy data: our video and visual collection holds eight tutorial paths, and the tools it lists are Sora, Veo, KlingAI, Runway, HeyGen, InVideo and LTX Studio. Lumen5 and Pictory are not among them, so that collection has no Lumen5 tutorial.
Where Lumen5 fits among the video tools we review
Lumen5 is built for turning written material into video, so it is a poor fit for a talking face. HeyGen and Synthesia put a presenter or an avatar on screen, so pick them when a person must appear. OpusClip starts from a long video you already own and cuts it into clips, so it suits footage rather than text. Canva Pro is a design tool first, with video as one of several outputs, and it fits a team already working in Canva.
The verdict
For a marketer who turns articles into short videos every week, Lumen5 is worth it on Basic billed yearly. Unlimited videos and no Lumen5 outro are the value, and the 720p cap is the price of that value. Move to Starter once a client or platform needs 1080p, and to Pro only when the watermark and fonts must be yours.
Test first. Use the free plan for a week of real posts, count the voice minutes each one uses, and read the terms before any paid client work. If the terms rule out your use, no plan price makes Lumen5 worth buying for that work.
