Is Manus worth it in 2026?
What the $20 plan really buys in credits, what a job costs, how the free and Team plans work, and why the company’s ownership matters before you pay.
The quick answer
Manus Pro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 credits, which works out to roughly 20 data analysis jobs of 15 minutes or 4 complex jobs of 80 minutes, using Manus’s own credit examples. That is a fair price for a few agent jobs a month and a poor fit for daily work. The free plan gives 300 credits a day, capped at 1,500 a month, but only runs the Lite model. Monthly credits expire unused, Team costs $20 per seat from a shared pool, and Meta’s deal is being unwound under a Chinese government order, so keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Step-by-step tutorials for Manus, Claude, Midjourney and 50+ tools, plus $3M+ in exclusive AI tool deals. 7-day free trial on the annual plan.
Manus is worth $20 a month only if you need a few multi-step agent jobs done each month. The Pro plan gives 4,000 credits, and Manus’s own examples price a 25-minute website build at 360 credits, about $1.80 at that rate. The real question is how many jobs you will run.
A pricing page shows the sticker price. The useful question is how many jobs $20 buys, what each one costs, and what changes if the company has to pull data or change hands. This review works from Manus’s own help center and credit examples, read on 10 October 2026, and from press reports on the ownership change. Most people should try the free tier first.

What you get
- ✓4,000 credits for $20 a month, with the top agent models (Max, 2.0 and Lite) in Agent Mode at that tier.
- ✓300 free daily credits let you test multi-step jobs without paying, on the Lite model.
- ✓Add-on packs have no fixed expiry while you stay subscribed, so one heavy month does not have to wait for the next refresh.
- ✓Team adds SSO, usage analytics, access control and a data-training opt-out on top of the Pro features.
- ✓Manus publishes example credit costs for three job types, so you can make a rough estimate before you commit.
The trade-offs
- ✕Monthly credits expire unused. A quiet month is wasted, and nothing rolls over.
- ✕There is no fixed price per task. The help center gives examples, not a price list, so a long job can cost far more than you expect.
- ✕Free daily credits run only the Lite model and stop at 1,500 a month, so the free plan cannot test the top models.
- ✕Ownership is still changing. Manus says it will delete some user data, and the Meta unwind is only months old.
- ✕Team credits are pooled, and the per-seat amount is not published, so five seats may get less than you assume.
Worth it if…
- →You want an agent to run a few multi-step jobs a month, such as a research brief, a data chart or a simple site build.
- →You can budget for roughly 20 quick analysis jobs or 4 complex ones a month.
- →You will keep your own copies of anything the platform stores, given the recent data deletions.
- →Your small team needs SSO and admin controls and is willing to ask sales how big the credit pool is.
Skip it if…
- →You want an assistant for daily writing, email or quick questions, where a chat plan gives more for the money.
- →You need a fixed monthly bill per task, since the help center publishes examples, not prices.
- →You need guaranteed retention of your data or long-term storage of your outputs.
- →You only want to try agents. Start on the free tier, which runs only the Lite model.
What Manus charges in 2026
Manus’s help center lists a free plan, two Pro tiers and a Team plan. Pro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 monthly credits. A higher Pro tier starts at $40 a month for 8,000 credits and includes a 7-day free trial. Team starts at $20 per seat a month and draws on a shared credit pool. Every paid plan takes 17% off with annual billing.
Some 2026 pricing guides also describe a $200 tier with 40,000 credits. It does not appear in Manus’s current help-center plan list, so this page leaves it out until Manus confirms it. No signup credit amount appears on the Manus pages reviewed here, so none is counted.
What the credits buy in real jobs
Manus does not charge a flat fee per task. Credits depend on how complex a job is and how long it runs, because the work uses model tokens, virtual machines and third-party data services. Manus’s credit page gives three examples: a 15-minute standard data analysis costs 200 credits, a 25-minute standard website build costs 360, and an 80-minute complex app costs 900.
At $20 for 4,000 credits, each credit costs half a cent, so those examples come to about $1.00, $1.80 and $4.50 a job (our arithmetic on Manus’s figures). The $40 tier is the same rate for double the credits, so it adds capacity, not a discount.
Per month, the $20 plan covers about 20 analysis jobs, 11 website builds or 4 of the 80-minute apps. That fits a person who runs a few big jobs a month, not someone who wants Manus working alongside them every day. The credit page carries no date, so treat the examples as a guide, not a quote.
The free tier is a trial, not a workspace
Free accounts get 300 daily refresh credits, which can only run Manus 2.0 Lite, the lighter agent model. The help center caps how many daily credits free users can spend at 1,500 a month. Free also allows one concurrent task and two scheduled automations, against 20 of each on Pro.
That is enough to see how Manus plans a job and uses a browser. It is not enough for real projects, because the heavier models in Agent Mode are paid only. Run your first test on Free, and move to Pro only when a job needs a stronger model or more than one task at a time.
Three credit rules that change what you pay
The price table hides the rules that decide whether a plan wastes money.
Monthly credits do not roll over. They refresh on your subscription date, and unused credits are cleared. A quiet month is paid for and lost.
Add-on credit packs stay usable while you are subscribed, with no fixed expiry. They become inactive if you move to Free or the subscription lapses, so buy them for a known spike rather than keeping them as a standing buffer.
Daily credits are spent first, before monthly and add-on credits, and only on the Lite model. On annual plans, credits refresh monthly.
Annual billing and the Team seat math
Annual billing takes 17% off every paid plan. Manus’s help center does not print the annual dollar amount, so here is our arithmetic on the published discount. $20 less 17% is about $16.60 a month, or about $199 a year, against $240 billed monthly.
Team works the same way per seat. Five seats at $20 cost $100 a month, or about $83 a month on annual billing. The catch is the pool. Manus does not publish a per-seat credit amount for Team, so five people may share a pool smaller than five separate Pro plans, which would give 20,000 credits. Ask sales for the pool size before you commit.
Who owns Manus now, and why it matters for buyers
Meta bought Manus in late December 2025 for a reported $2 billion. On 27 April 2026, China’s National Development and Reform Commission ordered the deal unwound and barred foreign investment in the company. By June, Meta had split operations and data from Manus. On 11 August 2026, Manus said it had formally resumed operating as an independent company.
The restart has a direct cost for buyers. Manus said it would delete some data created on or after 29 December 2025 by certain users, to meet rules in some jurisdictions, and told them they could back up their data. On 8 October 2026 it announced a funding round of more than $500 million, co-led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital. A round does not settle long-term ownership, so the data question is still open.
How it compares with Claude Pro
Claude Pro is the most useful yardstick because it costs the same $20 for a different kind of help. Anthropic lists Claude Pro at $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually at $200 up front, and it offers a free plan. Claude Max starts at $100 a month.
Manus fits when you want an agent to carry one multi-step job from start to finish on its own virtual machine. A chat assistant fits daily writing and drafts, where message limits are simpler to budget than per-job credits. Read the Claude Pro review for the chat side, and the Claude Code review if the work is mostly code.

The verdict
Manus is worth $20 a month if you run a few multi-step jobs a month and want an agent to finish them without supervision. At 4,000 credits, the plan covers about 20 quick analysis jobs or 11 website builds, and Manus’s own 25-minute build example works out to about $1.80. That is cheap for work you would otherwise hand off, but only if you have the jobs. The subscription is not the value. The jobs you pick are.
Two honest caveats. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over, so the plan wastes money in quiet months. And the company’s ownership is still being unwound, with some user data already scheduled for deletion, so keep copies of your outputs. If your work is mostly chat and drafts, Claude Pro is the simpler $20.
Better alternatives?
If it is not the right fit, these are worth a look.
Claude Pro
Anthropic lists $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually, with a free plan also available. Better for daily writing and chat than for multi-step agent jobs.
ChatGPT
The other obvious pick for chat plus tools. Its tiers are covered on the linked review.
Claude Code
Better when the job is mostly code inside a repository, where a terminal coding agent with project context is the closer fit.

Frequently asked questions
Is Manus worth $20 a month?▾
It is worth $20 if you run a few multi-step agent jobs a month. The Pro plan gives 4,000 credits, which covers about 20 data analysis jobs of 15 minutes or 4 complex jobs of 80 minutes, using Manus’s own credit examples. For daily chat or drafting, a chat plan is the better $20.
How many credits does a Manus task use?▾
It depends on complexity and run time. Manus’s credit page gives 200 credits for a 15-minute standard data analysis, 360 for a 25-minute standard website build, and 900 for an 80-minute complex app. At $20 for 4,000 credits, those jobs cost about $1.00, $1.80 and $4.50.
Is there a free Manus plan?▾
Yes. Free accounts get 300 daily refresh credits, which can only run the Manus 2.0 Lite model and are capped at 1,500 a month. Free accounts also get one concurrent task and two scheduled automations. Use it to try Manus, not to run real projects.
Do unused Manus credits roll over?▾
No. Monthly credits refresh on your subscription date, and unused credits are cleared. Add-on credit packs are different: they stay usable while you keep an active paid subscription, and they become inactive if you move to Free or the subscription lapses.
Is Manus still owned by Meta?▾
Meta’s acquisition is being unwound. China’s National Development and Reform Commission ordered it on 27 April 2026, and Manus said on 11 August 2026 that it had resumed operating as an independent company. Its 8 October 2026 funding round of more than $500 million did not settle who will own the company in the long run.
Is the Manus Team plan worth it for a small team?▾
Team starts at $20 per seat a month, with 17% off on annual billing, plus SSO, usage analytics and access control. Credits are pooled, and Manus does not publish a per-seat credit amount, so ask sales how many credits five people get before you buy.
Did Manus delete user data?▾
Manus said it would delete some data created on or after 29 December 2025 by certain users, to meet rules in some jurisdictions, and told affected users they could back up their data. Export anything you need before you rely on the platform for it.
