Is Freepik Worth It in 2026?

Plan prices, credit allowances and license terms, set against archived pricing pages and user reports.

The quick answer

Freepik, which now sells its plans under the Magnific name, is worth paying for if you need commercial stock and a moderate AI allowance. Premium is $7.25/mo billed annually as of October 25, 2026, under a promotion that ends October 26, but the plan with 600,000 credits a year costs $33.75/mo on annual billing, against $22.28 under a “50% off” badge in an archive capture dated April 17, 2026.

The rate on the plan with 600,000 AI credits a year printed $22.28/mo on annual billing in an archive capture dated April 17, 2026, under a “50% off” badge, and prints $33.75/mo on the vendor’s pricing page as of October 25, 2026, with no badge. That plan is Premium+ on both pages, and the two figures are not a like-for-like list price change. The change matters more to a buyer than the headline Premium price, which sits under a promotion the page says ends October 26.

Freepik’s plans documentation says: “Prices shown are for annual billing. Monthly billing is available at a higher rate.” It lists Free, Premium, Premium+ and Pro for individuals, plus Business and Enterprise for teams. The Free plan is for personal use only, and the paid plans carry a commercial license.

What you get

  • ✓Premium gives a commercial license and 240,000 credits a year at $7.25/mo billed annually while the promotion runs.
  • ✓Credits last a full year: “Credits valid for 1 year, no monthly resets.”
  • ✓Paid plans get 100 stock downloads a day, against 10 on Free, according to the documentation.

The trade-offs

  • ✕Premium+ printed $22.28/mo under a “50% off” badge in April 2026 and $33.75/mo with no badge in October 2026.
  • ✕The vendor can update credit costs “at any time, without prior notice”.
  • ✕The October 2026 Trustpilot reviews describe slow support answers.
  • ✕No free trial: “Magnific does not currently offer free trials.”

Worth it if…

  • →Freelance designers and small studios that need commercial stock plus an AI allowance of about 240,000 credits a year.
  • →Sellers of physical goods who want the Merchandise License, which only Pro includes and which covers non-AI assets.

Skip it if…

  • →Anyone who needs commercial use on a free account, because the Free plan is for personal use and requires attribution.
  • →Anyone who expects unlimited generation on every model, because the vendor limits unlimited generation to most models.
  • →Anyone who cannot wait days for a support answer, given the October 2026 Trustpilot reviews.

How has the price changed?

Three archived captures of the pricing page and the current page show the movement.

September 1, 2024 (capture 20240901232453): prints “18,000 monthly credits for AI tools” under Premium, and two USD prices: $12/mo on a 12-month plan ($144 every 12 months) and $20/mo on a 1-month plan.

November 9, 2025 (capture 20251109172012): names Essential, Premium, Premium+ and Pro, and prints four yearly allowances: 84,000, 216,000, 540,000 and 3,600,000 AI credits a year. Its text carries no currency amounts; each paid card prints “40% off billed annually”.

April 17, 2026 (capture 20260417115208): prints four cards. “For hobbyists getting started with AI” at $10/mo, $7.50 billed annually, with 96,000 credits a year. A $20 card with 240,000 credits a year at $14.50 billed annually. A $45 card, Premium+, with 600,000 credits a year at $22.28 billed annually under a “50% off” badge, marked “Save $272/year”. And “For professionals scaling their content production” at $280/mo, $138.60 billed annually, with 4,000,000 credits a year.

October 25, 2026 (the vendor’s current pricing page, not an archive): three cards. Premium at $7.25/mo billed annually with 240K credits a year, Premium+ at $33.75 with 600K, and Pro Starter at $82.50 with 1.5M. A banner reads “Save 50% off on Premium annual” and “Offer ends October 26.”

Three changes follow. The $10 entry card from April is absent from the vendor’s current plan list, which names Free, Premium, Premium+, Pro, Business and Enterprise. The 600,000-credit plan, Premium+ on both pages, printed $22.28/mo under a “50% off” badge in April and prints $33.75/mo with no badge today. The Premium drop from $14.50 to $7.25 comes with a promotion that ends October 26, so treat it as temporary. The April Pro card, at $138.60/mo with 4,000,000 credits a year, carried a “50% off” badge too; today’s Pro Starter prints $82.50/mo with 1,500,000 credits a year, and the documentation still lists a 4,000,000 tier.

Credits changed shape too. The 2024 capture shows monthly credits, and the current Premium card says “Credits valid for 1 year, no monthly resets.” The captures do not match tier for tier, so the sequence shows direction only.

What do users say?

Toolradar lists Freepik at 4.7 out of 5 from 165 reviews on G2, as of March 19, 2026. Its page describes the 165 as verified user reviews. An average hides the split, so the complaints matter as much as the score.

The Trustpilot listing for the domain shows reviews from October 2026, and its “What people talk about most” section lists Product, User experience, Artificial intelligence, Subscription and Website. Three critical reviews from that month:

October 16, 2026, “Long Time Customer Having to Cancel”: “this has become unusable as it hallucinates the product image.” The reviewer says a mockup generator moved to AI only.

October 19, 2026, “low customer service”: “it only gave me seven tries even though i’m a subscriber of the site.” The company replied in the same thread: “Generation limits depend on your plan and the tool you’re using.”

October 24, 2026, “WARNING: Magnific support is a complete scam!” The reviewer writes: “BUT it takes a week for support to answer, and EVERY TIME.”

The three complaints cover three things: output one reviewer finds unusable, generation caps the vendor ties to plan and tool, and support response times.

What do the credits and license cover?

The vendor describes credits this way: “Credits work like currency on our platform and are used for AI tools and features, not for downloading content.” It also warns: “We reserve the right to update credit costs at any time, without prior notice.”

The license terms split at the Free plan. The documentation says: “The Free plan is for personal use only and requires attribution.” Premium lists “Commercial use. No attribution required.” Premium+ and Pro add music rights on the pricing page.

The Merchandise License is the narrow one. Only Pro includes it, and it covers “non-AI-generated Premium assets” on physical products. “This license does not allow the registration of logos or trademarks based on the asset.” AI output sits outside it, which matters to anyone selling prints or mugs made from generations.

Extra credits need an active paid plan: “if you cancel your plan, your extra credits will be forfeited.” Magnific does not currently offer free trials, so the Free plan is the only no-cost way in.

How does the price compare?

Canva’s own pricing page lists its Pro plan at $144 a year for one person and its Free plan at $0, as of October 25, 2026. At $7.25/mo billed annually, the rate the page shows only until October 26, Freepik’s Premium comes to $87 a year, and the page prints no Premium price after that date. It adds a commercial license, 240,000 AI credits and the premium stock library.

That is not a like-for-like comparison. Canva Pro is a design suite built around templates and brand kits, while Freepik Premium is a stock library with an AI credit pool. If you need templates, weigh the Canva price. If you need stock and AI generation in one place, weigh the Freepik price.

Where this sits in the Academy prompt library

Academy data: of the 1,777 prompt packs in our library as of October 25, 2026, none names Freepik in its text, and 23 have “design” in their slug (the rule: the slug contains the string design).

The verdict

Pay for Premium if you need commercial stock and a moderate AI allowance, and decide before October 26. The page shows $7.25/mo billed annually, with 240,000 credits a year and a commercial license, only until October 26 and prints no price after that date. The April 2026 capture printed $14.50/mo on annual billing for the same tier, the last printed standard rate, and it is the plan here that fits a freelancer or small studio.

Skip Premium+ unless you generate heavily. Its April 2026 capture printed $22.28/mo under a “50% off” badge, against $33.75/mo with no badge today, and the vendor says unlimited generation covers “most models”, so check the models you need before paying. If your work is mostly stock with light AI, Premium covers it at a fraction of the Premium+ rate.

Skip Freepik for paid client work on the Free plan, and skip it if support matters more than price. Free is for personal use with attribution. One October 2026 Trustpilot review says support takes a week to answer, and two others report refund and generation-limit complaints.

What would change this verdict: a Premium+ annual rate back near its April level, or a Merchandise License that covers AI output. The vendor’s Merchandise License currently excludes AI-generated assets.
