Is Mistral Le Chat worth it in 2026?
Le Chat is now Vibe. Here are the Pro, student and Team prices, what the free plan leaves out, and how Pro compares with Claude Pro on price.
The quick answer
Mistral Le Chat, now named Vibe, is worth $14.99 a month on Pro for a daily user who also wants a coding agent in the same plan. Verified students pay $5.99 a month for up to 12 months. Pro raises messages to up to 6x the free allowance and image generation to up to 40x, but Mistral never publishes a free message count, so you cannot measure the jump in messages. Team at $24.99 per user a month is harder to justify, because SAML single sign-on and audit logs sit only on the quote-only Enterprise tier.

Yes, for a daily user, at $14.99 a month on Pro. Mistral's chat assistant is now called Vibe, and its one Pro plan covers both the chat app and an all-day coding agent. At list prices that is about $5 a month less than Claude Pro billed monthly.
Verified students pay $5.99 for up to 12 months. Team at $24.99 per seat is the weaker buy, because the sign-in and audit features that many companies require, SAML single sign-on and audit logs, are not on Team at all.
People still search for Le Chat, and older reviews and guides still use the name. Mistral's own FAQ says Le Chat is now Vibe, with conversations, settings and plans carried over. This page uses both names, and covers the Pro, student and Team prices and which limits Mistral publishes.

What you get
- ✓$14.99 a month for Pro, about $5 below Claude Pro billed monthly at list prices.
- ✓$5.99 a month for verified students for up to 12 months, which comes to $71.88 across the year.
- ✓Chat and an all-day coding agent in one plan: Pro includes the CLI, IDE and web coding tools.
- ✓Scheduled tasks go from 5 on Free to unlimited on Pro, subject to fair use.
- ✓Pay-as-you-go credits let heavy users keep going past the plan limit.
The trade-offs
- ✕The free allowance is never published as a number, so the "up to 6x" multiplier cannot be turned into a message count.
- ✕Team has no SAML single sign-on or audit logs. Both sit on Enterprise, which is quote-only.
- ✕The pricing page shows monthly rates only, so an annual Team budget cannot be read off it.
- ✕The product is now called Vibe on the vendor site, so older reviews and search results still say Le Chat and may quote out-of-date prices.
Worth it if…
- →A daily user who wants a chat assistant and a coding agent on one $14.99 plan.
- →A verified student at an accredited higher-education institution who has never used Le Chat or Vibe, for up to 12 months at $5.99.
- →A developer who wants the Vibe CLI and IDE plugin in the same subscription as the chat app.
- →A team of two to ten people that needs a shared workspace, domain verification and data export, and does not need single sign-on.
Skip it if…
- →Someone who opens a chat assistant a few times a week. Start on the free plan and upgrade only when the free limits stop you.
- →A company that needs SAML single sign-on, audit logs, the admin API or on-premises deployment. Those sit on Enterprise, which is quote-only.
- →A buyer who wants a published message count before paying. The page does not give one, so you will have to measure it yourself.
- →A buyer who wants the lowest possible team cost on annual billing. The page shows only the monthly seat rate.
What the rename changes
Mistral's product page now reads "Vibe (formerly Le Chat)", and the pricing page presents one set of plans for the chat app and the coding tools. The price you see on the pricing page is the price of the same subscription Le Chat users already hold. Mistral's FAQ says all conversations, settings and plans carried over, so a Le Chat subscription and a Vibe subscription are the same thing on the price list.
Be careful with third-party guides. Some list a Team rate billed annually that the vendor page does not show. Every Mistral number on this page comes from the Mistral pricing page, and the Claude figures come from the Claude pricing page, both checked October 10, 2026.
Pro at $14.99: what the extra money buys
The free plan is a real plan, not a trial. Mistral lists limited messages and web searches, limited coding sessions, basic image generation and editing, and more than 100 connectors. Pro lifts the chat limits to up to 6x Free for messages and up to 5x for web searches, raises image generation to up to 40x Free, and lifts scheduled tasks from 5 to unlimited, subject to fair-use limits. Pro also adds spreadsheet and slide creation, 15GB of document storage and pay-as-you-go credits for usage past the plan.
The number that matters most is the one Mistral leaves out. The page never says how many messages the free plan allows in a day or a week, so "6x" cannot be turned into a message count. If you are deciding whether Pro earns its $14.99, use the free plan on your real work for a week and count how often you hit the wall. That is the only honest test the public pricing allows.
The $5.99 student plan
The Pro card has an education checkbox. Verified students at accredited higher-education institutions who have never used Vibe or Le Chat pay $5.99 a month instead of $14.99, for a maximum of 12 months, with taxes extra. Across a full year that is $71.88 against $179.88 at the standard monthly rate, a saving of $108.00.
The student card is not an identical copy of the standard one. Its feature list leaves out the faster-responses line and the spreadsheet and slide line, and it lists $15 a month in API credits where the standard card lists $25.50. If you need slides or spreadsheets from the chat app, read the feature list on the card before you sign up with a student address.
Team at $24.99 per seat, for 5, 10 and 25 people
Team is priced per user per month, excluding taxes. The seat calculator opens at two users and shows $50 a month, which is $24.99 times two, rounded. It allows up to 100 seats. The vendor page shows only the monthly rate, so budget at that number.
Five seats cost $124.95 a month or $1,499.40 a year. Ten seats cost $249.90 a month or $2,998.80 a year. Twenty-five seats cost $624.75 a month or $7,497.00 a year.
Over Pro, a Team seat adds up to 30GB of storage per user, domain name verification, data export and knowledge connectors. It does not add SAML single sign-on, audit logs, the admin API, custom deployments or white labelling. The page puts all of those on Enterprise, which is quote-only. A team that needs sign-in controls or an audit trail should expect a sales call, not a $24.99 seat.
Against Claude Pro
Claude Pro costs $20 a month billed monthly, or about $17 a month on the annual plan, which the Claude pricing page shows as $200 billed up front. At list prices, Mistral Pro billed monthly is $5.01 a month cheaper than Claude Pro billed monthly. Over twelve months, Mistral Pro comes to $179.88 against Claude's $200 billed up front.
This compares price tags only. Neither vendor's pricing page says how its model performs on your work, and nothing on this page measures that. If your team already works in Claude, the $5 a month you save will not cover the switching time. Our ChatGPT vs Claude comparison covers the feature side of the wider choice.
Where the value runs out
Three usage limits deserve a close read before you pay. The fair-use footnote sits under every "unlimited" item, so scheduled tasks are capped in practice by terms the page does not quantify. The pricing FAQ says Pro gets more extended thinking and more deep research reports, but it gives no count for either. The $25.50 a month in API credits on the Pro card does not say which products draw on them.
On data, the pricing table lists model training as "Opt-out" on Pro, Team and Enterprise. The free column for that row shows an icon with no text, so the public page does not say what the free plan does. Read the terms for the plan you choose instead of assuming the answer from the Pro row.
The verdict
Mistral's Le Chat, now Vibe, is worth $14.99 a month on Pro for a daily user who wants chat and coding in one subscription. The student price of $5.99 makes it an easy yes for an eligible student for up to a year. Team at $24.99 per seat is harder to recommend, because SAML single sign-on and audit logs are missing and the page gives no annual rate to plan around.
The honest caveat is that the page never says how many messages the free plan allows. Try the free plan on your real tasks for a week before you pay, count the times you hit the limit, and let that number decide. On list price alone, Mistral Pro is the cheaper of the two plans, and that is the only part of this verdict the public pricing fully supports.

Is there a free Le Chat plan?▾

Ten seats at the list monthly rate of $24.99 cost $249.90 a month, or $2,998.80 a year. The pricing page shows no annual rate. Team adds up to 30GB of storage per user, domain name verification and data export, but not SAML single sign-on or audit logs.

Usually yes, if you are eligible. At $5.99 a month for up to 12 months, the year costs $71.88 against $179.88 at the standard rate. Check the student card before you sign up, because its feature list leaves out the spreadsheet and slide line that the standard Pro card includes.
