AI Tool Review

Is Motion worth it in 2026?

Motion here means the AI planner at usemotion.com, not Apple’s animation app. Here are the verified prices, what the credits cover, and when a cheaper planner is the better buy.

By Louis Corneloup·Updated October 12, 2026

The quick answer

Motion is worth it for a solo professional who will let it place tasks on the calendar every working day, at $29 a month billed annually for Pro AI. Its strongest point is automatic planning across tasks, meetings and the calendar, backed by 7,500 AI credits per seat each month. Its biggest catch is the solo price: the $19 seat rate is the team rate, and there is no free plan, only a trial. The strongest alternative is Morgen, whose individual plan costs $15 a month billed yearly and whose 14-day trial takes no card.

Short answer: Motion is worth it for a solo professional who wants tasks placed on the calendar automatically, and not worth it if a to-do list and a calendar already do the job. The only free way to test it is the trial, so run the trial before you pay.

A plain search for the name mostly returns Apple’s Motion animation software, so start with the product. This review covers the AI planner from usemotion.com. It reads Motion’s pricing page, its terms and its help docs as of 10 October 2026, and quotes prices in US dollars as the page shows them.

Dupple keyword data (Ahrefs, US, pulled 10 October 2026): “motion ai review” gets 450 searches a month, three times the 150 for “is motion worth it”. The search demand is for an opinion backed by numbers, which is what this page gives.

What you get

  • ✓7,500 AI credits per seat each month on Pro AI, and 15,000 on Business AI.
  • ✓Annual billing lowers the price on both plans, and on the Teams view it is the lowest figure on the page.
  • ✓Pro AI bundles an AI task planner, AI calendar and meetings, docs and notes, unlimited storage, and apps for iOS, Android and desktop.
  • ✓Business AI adds team-level tools such as timeline charts, time tracking, permissions and central billing.

The trade-offs

  • ✕There is no free plan, and the pricing page does not say how long the trial lasts.
  • ✕The solo price is higher: $29 a month billed annually on the Individuals tab, against $19 on the Teams view.
  • ✕The credit allowance is hard to judge in advance, because the page does not say what a typical task or meeting costs.

Worth it if…

  • →A solo professional with a long task list who wants tasks, meetings and the calendar in one planner.
  • →A team of two or more that needs shared planning, time tracking or timeline charts and will use them.
  • →Someone who already has a calendar and wants the AI to place work on it, not only store it.

Skip it if…

  • →Anyone who only needs a to-do list or a calendar view. Reclaim’s free Lite plan covers basic calendar needs for nothing.
  • →A solo buyer who wants the lowest price for daily planning. Morgen’s individual plan is the cheaper route.

What Motion charges in 2026

Motion sells two plans, and both include a monthly allowance of AI credits. Each has a team price and a solo price, and annual billing is cheaper than monthly on both. The Teams view shows the lowest figures by default, but a single person pays the Individuals prices. The table above has every figure, taken from Motion’s pricing page on 10 October 2026.

Three points matter here. There is no free plan. The free trial is advertised, but the pricing page gives no length, and the terms give only an example. And the terms say a trial bills your payment method automatically when it ends, unless you cancel before then. Put the trial end date in your calendar before you start, because that date decides whether you pay.

What the credits cover, and what they do not

Each seat gets a monthly allowance: 7,500 credits on Pro AI and 15,000 on Business AI. At the annual team price, that is about 25 cents per 100 credits on Pro AI and 19 cents on Business AI. The bigger plan is cheaper per credit, but only the Business AI features justify paying the seat premium.

Motion’s help docs say that AI Chat requests to create, update or search work use credits, and so do the AI Notetaker’s transcripts, summaries and task creation. Longer chats and larger requests cost more. Credits refresh each billing cycle, and unused credits do not roll over. The pricing page does not say how many credits a typical task or meeting uses, so you cannot judge how far an allowance goes until you use it.

The solo math against Morgen and Reclaim

For one person, the honest comparison is the solo price against planners that sell individual plans. Morgen’s individual plan costs $15 a month billed yearly, or $30 billed monthly. It lists AI planner time blocking and calendar automations, and offers a 14-day trial that takes no card. On the same yearly term, Motion’s solo Pro AI costs nearly double.

Reclaim.ai takes another route. Its Lite plan is free forever for calendar basics, with five AI agents, which makes it the only free option here. Its paid plan is sold per seat, so it fits a team better than a single user.

For teams, the case for Motion rests on Business AI's extras. It adds team capacity planning, timeline and Gantt charts, time tracking, permissions and access control, central billing and priority support. Morgen’s team plan has a two-seat minimum and a lower per-seat price, so start from the features your team needs and then compare the price. If your planning already lives in Notion, read our Notion AI review first to see what you already pay for.

How to decide during the trial

Treat the trial as the test, and use it for a normal working week. Load the tasks and meetings you already have, let Motion place them, and count how often you move a block by hand. If you rarely move anything, the automation is doing the job the price pays for. If you move something most days, you are paying for a calendar you keep correcting.

Use the meeting features the way you would in a real week, too. Transcription and summaries draw on the same allowance, so a week full of meetings can use more of it than a week of task entry. Judge the plan on your typical week, not on a quiet one.

The verdict

For a solo professional who will let Motion place tasks every working day, Pro AI on the solo annual price is a defensible buy. Teams have the cheaper route on the Teams view, and should move to Business AI only if they need its timeline, time tracking or permissions features.

The caveats decide the rest. Morgen covers daily planning for less and offers a trial that takes no card. Reclaim gives you a free plan to start with. Choose Motion when automatic placement saves you more time than the price gap, and let the trial prove that before the first full charge.

Better alternatives?

If it is not the right fit, these are worth a look.

Morgen

Individuals from $15 a month billed yearly, or $30 monthly. Lists AI planner time blocking and calendar automations, with a 14-day trial that takes no card. Teams from $10 a seat on yearly billing, two-seat minimum.

Reclaim.ai

Free Lite plan for calendar basics, with five AI agents. Starter costs $10 a seat a month on yearly billing, $12 monthly, with a free 14-day trial. Sold per seat, so it suits teams.
