Is Taskade worth it in 2026?

What the free workspace allows, what an annual Pro subscription buys, and why credits and automation runs are separate limits.

The quick answer

Taskade is worth exploring if you want projects, AI agents and simple apps in one workspace. Free starts with no included AI credits and allows ten automation runs a month. Pro is listed at $120 a year, equivalent to $10 a month, with 50,000 AI credits and 1,000 automation runs each month. Credits and runs measure different things.

Short answer: Taskade can be worth the $120 annual Pro charge if you need its projects, AI agents and automations together. If you only need a task list, start with Free and check whether its limits are a real obstacle. The $10 figure is a monthly equivalent billed yearly.

There are two separate budgets to watch. The plan controls automation runs, and AI work consumes credits. A workflow can be within its run limit and still need more credits. The pricing page also says Free begins with zero AI credits, which must be earned or bought.

We read Taskade pricing and its usage FAQ, the privacy policy and the terms page on 28 October 2026. This is a document-based review, not a hands-on test. Check the current checkout and usage terms before subscribing.

What you get

  • ✓One workspace: projects, apps, agents and automations are presented together.
  • ✓Free entry: users can explore a limited workspace without a plan fee.
  • ✓Separate usage controls: the pricing FAQ explains credit balances and automation run allowances.
  • ✓Annual price is explicit: the Pro card states the $120 yearly bill.

The trade-offs

  • ✕Free starts with zero AI credits: useful AI activity can require earned or purchased credits.
  • ✕Credits are not a fixed message count: complex requests can cost more than simple ones.
  • ✕Yearly billing is paid up front: the $10 equivalent is not a monthly payment.
  • ✕External model keys can add bills: provider charges and some Taskade automation fees can still apply.
  • ✕Connected agents need oversight: permissions and outputs should be reviewed.

Worth it if…

  • →A small team that wants a shared project plus a limited automation and has checked access needs.
  • →A creator who will use the agent and app functions often enough to justify the annual charge.
  • →A user prepared to measure credit consumption on representative workflows.

Skip it if…

  • →A simple task list is enough and you do not need hosted apps or agents.
  • →You require a predictable fixed number of AI requests from the credit balance.
  • →Your organization does not permit the data or integrations the workflow needs.

What is Taskade selling?

Taskade's current pricing page brings together projects, apps, AI agents and automations. Projects hold work and data; agents can be configured around a task or body of information; automations run workflows when a trigger occurs. The company also describes publishing apps with hosting and a database. Those pieces serve different needs, so start with the one you actually intend to use.

A student who wants a shared checklist may not need an AI app builder. A small team testing an internal tracker may value the ability to put an app and related workflow in the same workspace. The latter also has more to check: access to the app, the quality of generated output, and whether a workflow can affect connected tools or outside users.

The vendor lists up to three live apps and two people on Free. Pro raises those limits as shown in the table. “Unlimited” is the vendor's label for apps or agents; it does not mean unlimited AI consumption or automation runs. Both are separately metered.

The free plan: usable workspace, separate AI spending

Free has a $0 plan fee and ten automation runs per month. The pricing FAQ says it starts with zero AI credits, which users can earn or buy. That does not mean the plan has an included pool of free AI work: check the cost of any credit pack and the activity you intend to run before describing an experiment as free.

The distinction between apps and credits is useful. The free plan may let you maintain up to three live apps, but creating or changing AI-generated content can use a separate credit balance. An automation run is a workflow execution, not a synonym for one AI credit. Ask how many steps and AI actions each run involves before estimating how long either allowance lasts.

Use the first experiment to answer one narrow question, such as whether a shared task view is easier for your team to maintain than its existing document. Review the data and permissions before inviting people. The plan supports a limited number of people, so confirm exactly who needs access rather than assuming every stakeholder must be a workspace member.

Pro vs Business: calculate the year before you upgrade

Pro is listed at $120 billed yearly, or $10 per month when divided over twelve months. Business is $300 billed yearly, or $25 per month equivalent. Business therefore costs $180 more for a full year at those listed annual prices. These numbers exclude taxes and additional services, and they are not a quote for month-to-month billing.

Pro lists 50,000 AI credits, 1,000 automation runs and ten people. Business lists 150,000 credits, 10,000 runs and unlimited people, along with SAML single sign-on and branding features. For a team of five, Pro's stated ten-person allowance is enough on headcount alone; Business only makes sense if the additional credits, runs, identity controls or branding solve a real need. Check the plan's detailed access rules before assuming all five people have identical permissions.

The price gap is not automatically a cost per person because the page presents the plans as workspace offers. Do not divide the bill by ten and treat that as a guaranteed individual seat price. Verify who is counted, whether clients need membership and how additional credit packs are charged in the actual checkout.

How far do 50,000 AI credits go?

There is no honest fixed answer from the public FAQ. Taskade says the same request does not always cost the same amount: complexity, context and what an agent rereads can change consumption. It describes a simple question as cheaper than a larger app build, but does not give a universal credits-per-message rate. The number of requests a plan can support depends on the work.

A useful test is to create one representative workflow, record its initial credit balance, run a small set of typical inputs and inspect the remaining balance. Repeat with a more complex input before extrapolating. Include revisions, since a useful app usually requires changes after the first generation. A budget based only on the first prompt understates the full workflow.

Taskade's FAQ says the credit balance is a ceiling for a build and that paid plans can buy additional packs. Verify the current pack price and any auto-top-up settings before enabling them. A ceiling on one balance does not make a top-up or a separate provider bill free.

What changes when you bring your own AI key?

The FAQ says custom agents on Pro and above can use certain external provider keys. It distinguishes agent chat on a user's own key, which uses no Taskade credits, from an automation step on that key, which has a fixed Taskade credit fee and remains subject to the daily request limit. Check the current provider and model list in the FAQ before setting this up.

Your own key is a separate billing relationship with the model provider. Add the provider's charges to the Taskade subscription when comparing the alternatives, and set provider-side spending controls where available. Do not put an API key into a public app, shared prompt or document, and check who can use it within the workspace.

AI agents can act on information from connected services. Begin with a limited, reviewable workflow and confirm what permissions the connection grants. A generated output still needs a person to check facts and a human decision before anything consequential is sent or changed.

Who should choose another approach?

If your only need is a list of assignments and deadlines, compare the friction of a task manager against maintaining an app and agent. If you need a shared app, check access controls, exports and the ongoing cost of the workflow. Taskade says Pro and above can export a Genesis app to GitHub, but a successful export is not the same as proving that another hosting environment will run it without work.

Academy data: our Claude project-management prompt page contains 20 prompts in five categories, counted in the source on 28 October 2026. It can help plan a project before buying an automation platform, but it is a prompt collection and does not run or host an app.

The verdict

Use Free to assess the workspace and the limits, while remembering that AI credits start at zero. Pro becomes more attractive when you can identify a recurring app or automation and the $120 annual charge fits the budget.

Business is a separate decision: compare its larger allowances and identity controls with your actual usage, then include credit packs or external model charges in the total.
