Is Botpress worth it in 2026?
Plus rose from $79 to $150 a month on annual billing for new workspaces. Here are the plans, the pack bill, the price history and what users report.
The quick answer
Botpress is worth it for a support bot of 100 to about 1,090 conversations a month on Plus, at $150 a month billed annually. That price was $79 on a 1 May 2026 archive copy, before the May 2026 change for new workspaces. Team, at $750 a month billed annually, costs less from about 1,090 to 1,150 conversations, depending on how packs are counted. Free is hard-capped at 100 conversations, so it suits testing only. Past the included conversations, packs of 100 are added automatically at 95% of quota, which makes the bill hard to predict.

Botpress’s entry paid plan went from $79 a month billed annually, plus AI Spend, on a 1 May 2026 archive copy to $150 a month billed annually today, for workspaces created after 14 May 2026. The comparison is not like for like: the new plans include AI usage that the old ones billed on top. Plus is still the cheapest paid plan under about 1,090 conversations a month, but the bill around it is hard to predict.

What you get
- ✓Team is cheaper above about 1,150 conversations: $1,000 a month billed annually at 2,000 conversations, against $1,320 on Plus.
- ✓4.5 out of 5 on G2 from 512 reviews, with users praising ease of use and integrations.
- ✓Unlimited AI agents on Plus and Team, against 3 on Free.

The trade-offs
- ✕Free is hard-capped at 100 conversations with no top-ups, so it fits testing, not a live support widget.
- ✕Packs are added automatically at 95% of quota, and the setting cannot be turned off.
- ✕Plus is $150 a month billed annually, up from $79 plus AI Spend on the 1 May 2026 archive copy.
- ✕Plus caps seats at 3, and yearly billing is not refunded after the first week.
Worth it if…
- →A small support team with a steady conversation count under about 1,090 a month, where Plus is the cheapest paid plan.
- →A builder who wants to test a bot for nothing first, within the 100-conversation Free cap.
- →A team that needs more than three seats, since Team is the only plan with unlimited seats, at $750 a month billed annually. A team above about 1,150 conversations a month also pays less on Team, on yearly billing.
Skip it if…
- →Anyone who needs a live bot on the Free plan, since Free is hard-capped.
- →Buyers who need a fixed monthly bill, because the automatic pack rule cannot be switched off.
- →Teams that would need a refund on a yearly plan after the seven-day window.
- →Enterprises that need an uptime SLA or a security review, which sit behind the quote-only Enterprise plan.
How has Botpress’s price changed?
Team was listed at $495 a month in each archive copy from March 2024 to May 2026. The entry tier was then Pay-as-you-go, at $0 plus a $5 monthly AI Spend credit (18 July 2025 copy).
On 18 July 2025 the copy printed Plus at $89 a month or $79 billed annually, and Team at $495 or $445. The 8 November 2025 copy and the 1 May 2026 copy kept those figures, with AI Spend billed on top.
By 22 July 2026 the copy printed Plus at $150 a month billed annually and Team at $750 a month billed annually. The entry tier was now Free, with 100 conversations.
Botpress’s May 2026 pricing post says the new prices apply only to workspaces created after 14 May 2026, and that legacy workspaces keep their current pricing for now. Built For You, its managed build service, is listed there at $1,650 a month with no annual price.
What each plan costs on both billing terms
Plus costs $1,800 a year billed annually. Team costs $9,000 a year billed annually. The page labels yearly billing “Annual · Save 20%”, but it is a 12-month term paid in advance.
Free costs $0 and includes 3 seats, 3 AI agents and no top-ups. The FAQ calls it hard-capped with no add-ons. A $40 a month storage add-on is available on Plus and Team. Enterprise is custom priced and adds an uptime SLA, a security review and custom storage to Team.
The conversation pack is the real bill
A conversation is any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month. Plus includes 250 a month and Team 1,500. Packs of 100 cost $65 on Plus ($0.65 a conversation) and $50 on Team. Unused conversations expire at month end, and a pack stays on the account until you remove it in billing settings.
Botpress adds a pack once a workspace reaches 95% of its quota. The FAQ says that cannot be turned off, because “pausing conversations means pausing the product”. AI usage is bundled at $0.10 a conversation, which is $25 on Plus and $150 on Team. At 95% of the AI spend limit, Botpress buys a $10 credit grant, sold at cost. The FAQ says those amounts cannot be configured on paid plans yet.
What a 2,000-conversation support bot costs a month
On Plus, the 1,750 conversations above the 250 included are 18 packs at $65, or $1,170. That is $1,320 a month on Plus on yearly billing. On Team, the 500 above the 1,500 included are 5 packs at $50, or $250, for $1,000 a month on Team.
Read as each added pack raising the quota before the next one triggers at 95%, the count is 19 packs on Plus and 7 on Team. That gives $1,385 a month on Plus and $1,100 on Team, on yearly billing. These are our figures. Team stays cheaper at this volume despite its higher base fee.
What do users say about Botpress?
Toolradar’s aggregate, fetched 17 September 2026, gives 4.5 out of 5 from 512 G2 reviews and 4.5 from 37 Capterra reviews (Toolradar). The open-source repository has 14,965 GitHub stars, but its latest tagged release is v12.30.9 from 22 June 2023, although its code was pushed on 23 October 2026 (GitHub).
Featurebase, a rival product, summarises G2 reviews in an article dated 9 October 2026. It reports praise for ease of use, a clean interface, integrations and flexibility, and complaints about connecting workflows, testing scenarios and navigating the interface and documentation (Featurebase).
Chatbotscape, an independent review site, says multiple G2 reviewers in the last six months describe surprise at how quickly top-up packs stack when volume spikes. It gives Botpress 2 out of 5 on price predictability, and warns that “a viral spike or unexpected campaign volume can push monthly cost meaningfully above the headline tier rate” (Chatbotscape).
CostBench quotes undated Reddit commenters. On AI costs, one writes that “it is not viable if the app bursts and has a lot of consumption”. On setup, another says Botpress “might require a bit of coding” (CostBench). In those three sources, praise centres on usability and flexibility, and complaints on cost mechanics and setup.
Refunds and trials
Self-serve subscriptions can be refunded within seven calendar days of any charge, first purchase or renewal, with no reason needed, once per customer in any 12-month period. AI Spend credits and usage fees are excluded (refund policy, last updated 2 September 2026). Terms of 12 months or longer are paid in advance, with no refund for unused time after the seven-day window. The pricing page makes no mention of a free trial for Plus or Team.
The verdict
Botpress is worth it for a support bot of 100 to about 1,090 conversations a month, on Plus billed yearly. From about 1,150 conversations, Team billed yearly costs less whichever way the packs are counted. Between the two, the pack rule decides. Free is for building and testing only.
The caveats: the bill is not fixed, yearly billing is paid up front, and a workspace created before 14 May 2026 stays on the legacy structure, where AI Spend is billed on top, until Botpress moves it.
A spend cap or configurable recharge trigger, which the FAQ lists as coming soon, would make Plus safer at higher volumes.
