Is Avoma worth it in 2026?

What a recorder seat really costs once coaching and forecasting are added, how the plans changed, and when a cheaper notetaker is enough.

By AI Academy editorial team·Published November 8, 2026

The quick answer

Avoma is worth it for a sales team that wants meeting notes, CRM updates and call coaching in one place, but the $19 headline is only the notes seat on annual billing. Adding Conversation Intelligence makes it $48 a rep a month on annual billing, or $64 monthly (our arithmetic). A solo rep who only needs notes can pay less with Fathom or Fireflies; non-recording viewers are free on every plan.

Short answer: Avoma is worth $19 a recorder seat a month (billed annually, $29 monthly) only if notes and CRM sync are all you need; for sales coaching the real figure is $48 a seat on annual billing once the $29 Conversation Intelligence add-on is included (our arithmetic on the Avoma pricing page, October 29, 2026). That is still well under what Avoma charged for coaching in 2024.

Avoma records and transcribes calls on Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and Webex, writes AI notes with templates for sales methods such as MEDDIC and SPICED, saves them to the CRM and drafts follow-up emails. Conversation and revenue intelligence (call scoring, deal risk, forecasting) sit in paid add-ons. You only pay for people who record; anyone who watches, reads or comments is free.

What you get

  • ✓Pay only for recorders: viewers, listeners and commenters are free.
  • ✓Unlimited transcription from $19: on annual billing; the 2024 entry tier had limited transcription.
  • ✓Sales-specific notes: MEDDIC, SPICED and other templates, saved to the CRM.
  • ✓Flexible add-ons: coaching and forecasting can go to specific people only.
  • ✓No-card trial: 14 days of Organization with every add-on.

The trade-offs

  • ✕$19 is not the coaching price: scoring adds $29 a seat on annual billing.
  • ✕No free plan: the free Basic tier from 2024 is gone.
  • ✕Monthly costs more: Startup is $29 monthly against $19 annually.
  • ✕Same plan for all recorders: you cannot mix Startup and Organization seats.
  • ✕Few refunds: mid-term cancellations and unused seats are typically not credited.

Worth it if…

  • →Sales teams whose managers score calls and want coaching tied to the CRM.
  • →Revenue teams of roughly ten to a hundred recorders who also want forecasting.
  • →Teams where many people watch calls but only a few record them.

Skip it if…

  • →You only need meeting notes; Fathom or Fireflies cost less.
  • →You are a solo user who will not use call scoring.
  • →You need SSO or HIPAA but have fewer than 10 recorders.
  • →You cannot commit to a year and want month-to-month add-ons on an annual plan.

How has Avoma’s pricing changed?

Avoma rebuilt its price list between 2024 and 2025. An April 2024 archive snapshot shows five tiers: a free Basic plan, Starter at $19 annual or $24 monthly with limited transcription, Plus at $49 or $59, Business at $79 (annual only, minimum 3 seats) for AI scorecards and revenue intelligence, and Enterprise at $129.

By the May 2025 snapshot the ladder was the one sold today: Startup $19 or $29, Organization $29 or $39, Enterprise $39, with Conversation Intelligence and Revenue Intelligence each a separate $29 add-on on annual billing. A January 2026 snapshot shows the same prices.

Two things moved in opposite directions. The free plan disappeared, and the monthly entry price rose from $24 to $29. But unlimited transcription now starts at the $19 tier, and full coaching plus forecasting costs $77 a seat on annual billing (Startup plus both add-ons, our arithmetic), slightly below the old $79 Business tier and far below the old $129 Enterprise.

What does a sales rep’s seat really cost?

The add-ons decide the bill. Conversation Intelligence (AI call scoring, coaching recommendations, custom scorecards, keyword trackers) and Revenue Intelligence (deal risk alerts, forecasting, win-loss analysis) are each $29 a seat a month on annual billing or $35 monthly. Lead Router is $19 or $25. Add-ons follow the billing cycle of your plan, so you cannot buy a monthly add-on on an annual plan.

Scenarios, all our arithmetic on list prices. A rep who wants notes and coaching on Startup pays $19 plus $29, or $48 a month on annual billing ($576 a year); on monthly billing it is $29 plus $35, or $64. The same rep on Organization pays $58 a month on annual billing. A fully loaded rep with both intelligence add-ons pays $77 on Startup or $87 on Organization, annually.

A 10-rep team on Organization with Conversation Intelligence pays 10 × $58 × 12, or $6,960 a year. The saving grace: add-ons can be assigned to specific people, so managers and reps who need scoring get it while others stay on the base seat. Every recording user must be on the same base plan, though.

What do users say?

Public user data in the places we can open is thin. The Avoma iPhone app shows 3.8 stars from 16 ratings on the US App Store as of October 29, 2026, too small a sample to say much beyond the fact that most buying happens on the web, not mobile.

What the record does show is that Avoma keeps reshaping plans: five tiers in 2024, three tiers plus add-ons since 2025, and a discounted Organization figure on today’s plan card. That is normal for software sold to sales teams, but it means a quote you get today may not match the renewal. Ask for the renewal price in writing when you sign an annual contract.

The pricing FAQ is also clear on refunds: if you remove seats or downgrade, the change applies at the next billing cycle, and Avoma “typically” does not give credits or refunds for cancellations or unused licenses mid-subscription. Buy annual seats for people you are sure will record.

Avoma vs Fathom and Fireflies for a solo rep

If you only need notes and transcripts, Avoma is not the cheapest route. Fathom lists a free plan with unlimited recordings and transcription, and Premium at $16 a month billed annually or $20 monthly on its pricing page. Fireflies lists Pro at $10 a seat billed annually ($18 monthly) and Business at $19 ($29 monthly).

Where Avoma pulls ahead is the sales layer on top: methodology note templates, two-way CRM updates, call scoring and deal risk, plus round-robin scheduling and lead routing in the same product. For a rep whose manager scores calls against MEDDIC or SPICED, the $48 Startup-plus-coaching seat replaces several tools; for a rep who just wants a recap after each call, Fathom’s free plan does the job.

Read AI is another option for cross-meeting summaries, but it is not built around sales coaching. Choose by the job: notes alone, or notes plus coaching.

Trial and setup

The 14-day trial runs on the Organization plan with every add-on switched on and needs no card. When it ends, your account becomes a viewer: you keep access to past recordings but cannot record new meetings until you pay. Avoma says it will extend a trial on request by email.

Use the trial to test what drives the bill. Turn on Conversation Intelligence for one manager and two reps, score a week of real calls, and decide whether scoring changes coaching enough to pay $29 a seat for it. Check the CRM sync on your own Salesforce or HubSpot fields, since that is where a notetaker saves or wastes the most time.

Academy data: of the 20 sales and meeting prompt packs in our library, none names Avoma; they hold 568 prompts between them, such as the ChatGPT sales prompts, which help with call prep and follow-ups in a general assistant rather than recording calls.

The verdict

Avoma is worth it for sales teams that will actually use call scoring: at $48 a rep a month on annual billing for notes plus coaching, or $77 with forecasting, it costs less than its own 2024 coaching tiers and bundles notes, CRM sync and scheduling in one tool.

It is not worth $19 a month for someone who just wants transcripts, when Fathom has a free plan and Fireflies starts at $10 annually. Run the no-card trial with real calls and price the add-ons before committing. What would change this verdict: Conversation Intelligence folded into the base seat, or a return of a free tier.
