Is Read AI worth it in 2026?
The free plan’s limits, Pro and Enterprise prices on both billing views, the 5-license minimum on Enterprise+, and what a 3-person and a 5-person team pay.
The quick answer
Read AI is worth paying for once you record more than five meetings a month, and Pro at $15 per user a month billed annually is the plan to price first, as read on 24 October 2026. The free plan stops at five meetings a month and one hour per meeting. Its biggest strength is that paid plans lift the report cap and show unlimited meeting reports. Its biggest catch is that video playback starts at Enterprise, $7.50 a user a month above Pro on annual billing. For five people on annual billing, Pro comes to $900 a year, and a light user can stay on the free plan without paying anything.

Short answer: yes for a team that records more than five meetings a month, and no if the free plan already covers you. Read AI’s Free plan costs $0 and allows 5 meetings a month. Paid plans run from $15 to $39.75 per user a month, depending on the tier and on whether you pay annually or monthly.
Read’s plans page opens on its Annual view, labeled 25% off, so the first prices you see are the annual ones. Switch to Monthly and each paid price rises, and the line under it changes to a plain per-user monthly figure. Every price in this review is tied to its view. The sources are that plans page and three Help Center articles, all read on 24 October 2026. This review rests on those pages, not on hands-on testing of the app.

What you get
- ✓A free plan that works: 5 meetings a month with transcripts and summaries, with no credit card needed.
- ✓Pro on annual billing, with unlimited meeting reports, 4-hour meetings and premium integrations.
- ✓Enterprise adds video playback and highlights on the tier above Pro.
- ✓Upgrades rescue old reports: moving up a plan reprocesses the last 30 days, including reports that were out of quota on Free.
- ✓Enterprise+ lists the compliance features on its card: HIPAA, SAML, SCIM and domain capture, for teams of five or more.
The trade-offs
- ✕Free stops at 5 meetings a month and at most 1 hour each.
- ✕Enterprise playback costs more: video playback starts at Enterprise, $7.50 a user a month above Pro on annual billing.
- ✕Monthly billing costs $4.75 more per user a month on Pro, or $57 a seat a year by our arithmetic.
- ✕Enterprise+ needs at least 5 licenses, and every license in a Workspace must share one plan and one billing cycle.
- ✕Pro allows 100 minutes of uploads a month, which is less than two hours of recordings, so a backlog of calls will not fit.
Worth it if…
- →You take more than five meetings a month and need the full transcript and report for each one.
- →You run a team of five or more that wants one shared Workspace bill on Pro or Enterprise.
- →You need to watch recordings, which starts at Enterprise, the tier above Pro.
Skip it if…
- →You take five or fewer meetings a month, because the free plan covers that.
- →Your team has fewer than five people and wants Enterprise+ for its compliance features, since that tier needs 5 licenses.
What the free plan allows
The Free plan costs nothing and needs no credit card, and it suits one person who records a handful of calls. It covers 5 meetings a month with transcripts, summaries and search, and each meeting can run up to 1 hour. Read’s Help Center gives the same 5-meeting limit. Its recording-length article adds that a meeting running past the cap is cut off there, and the report is built from what was captured up to that point.
The free plan has one more catch. Free users cannot join a Workspace, so a team cannot put them under its own billing. The upgrade path helps: when you move up a plan, Read reprocesses your last 30 days of reports, including the ones that went out of quota on Free.
Pro, Enterprise and Enterprise+: what each step adds
Pro is the first paid plan, and on annual billing it is the cheapest Read plan with unlimited meetings. It removes the 5-report cap, extends meetings to 4 hours, and adds Workspace access and premium integrations such as Notion, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier and webhooks. Uploads rise to 100 minutes a month. The card calls that allowance file upload credits, while the comparison table lists the same row in minutes, so this review uses minutes.
Enterprise costs $22.50 per user a month billed annually. By our arithmetic that is $7.50 a user a month more than Pro. It adds audio and video playback, video highlights and 200 minutes of uploads. If you need to watch the recording rather than only read the summary, this is the tier that does it.
Enterprise+ costs $29.75 per user a month billed annually, or $39.75 billed monthly. It adds HIPAA compliance, SAML and SCIM, domain capture, a custom data retention policy and workspace onboarding, plus 300 upload minutes and 8-hour meetings. Its card also carries a Talk to sales link in the description above the features. The page does not say what a sales conversation changes.
Team costs for 3 and 5 people
Read sells one license per person, and the Workspace owner pays for everyone, so a team bill is seats times price. The arithmetic below is price x seats x 12 months, on the list prices above. Five seats on Pro with annual billing come to $900 a year, the annual price times five seats times 12 months. The same five seats on monthly billing come to $1,185 a year ($19.75 x 5 x 12), which is $285 more.
Enterprise for five on annual billing comes to $1,350 a year, which is $450 more than Pro. Enterprise+ on annual billing comes to $1,785 a year, the same as Enterprise billed monthly. A three-person team on Pro pays $540 a year, three-fifths of the five-person bill.
The 5-license minimum decides the top tier. A three-person team cannot buy Enterprise+ at all, and a team of five can. Read’s billing rules also apply to the whole Workspace: every license must sit on the same plan and the same billing cycle. You cannot run Pro for three people and Enterprise for two, or mix annual and monthly seats. Volume discounts start at 100 annual licenses, at 10% off, so they do not change the bill for a team of five.
Paid plans and meeting limits
Read’s Help Center says all paid plans offer unlimited meetings per month. The meeting-length caps in the table apply to each meeting, not to the total, so they limit how long one call can be recorded, not how many calls you can record.
Academy data: Of the 182 prompts in the four notes, minutes and recap packs in our library (120, 30, 16 and 16), none is written for Read AI, so every Read AI figure on this page comes from Read’s own pages. Those packs are the prompts to run on the notes Read produces, or on a transcript from any other tool.
Read AI or Otter for a team
Read and Otter both record calls and write notes. Start with the limit that bites first. Read’s free plan stops at 5 meetings a month and 1 hour per meeting. For Otter’s plans and caps, read our Otter review, then check Otter’s pricing page before you buy.
For a team, compare the seat minimum and the billing rule on both pricing pages. Read’s rule is one plan and one billing cycle for the whole Workspace, and its top tier needs 5 licenses. Those two rules shape a team bill more than a small price gap does.
The verdict
For a team that records more than five meetings a month, Pro on annual billing is the plan to price first. For five people that is $900 a year. Read’s free plan works as a trial and a light personal tool, not as a team plan.
If you need to watch recordings, Enterprise adds $450 a year for five people. Start on Free for a few weeks, count your meetings, then choose.
