Is MeetGeek worth it in 2026?

What 3 free hours a month cover, what Pro costs per recorded client hour against Otter and Fireflies, and how MeetGeek’s plans moved since 2025.

The quick answer

MeetGeek Pro is worth it for freelancers and consultants who record more than three hours of calls a month. Pro costs $15.99 a user a month billed monthly or $9.99 billed yearly, with 20 hours of transcription and $0.50 per extra hour. The free Basic plan dropped from 5 to 3 hours a month during 2025, while paid prices fell. At 20 hours a month, Pro costs about $0.80 per recorded hour on monthly billing, close to Otter Pro and cheaper than Fireflies Pro billed monthly.

Short answer: the free plan covers about three one-hour calls a month. If you record more, Pro at $15.99 a month (or $9.99 a month billed yearly) is the step that makes sense, and it is cheaper than it was: the March 2025 archive snapshot priced Pro at $19 monthly. The catch is the other direction: the free allowance shrank from 5 hours to 3.

What you get

  • ✓Cheaper than in 2025: Pro fell from $15 to $9.99 a month on annual billing.
  • ✓Useful free plan: AI summaries, chat and 100+ languages within 3 hours.
  • ✓Fair overage: $0.50 per extra hour instead of a forced upgrade.
  • ✓2-hour meetings on Pro: longer than Otter Pro’s 90 minutes.
  • ✓Automation: Zapier, Make, n8n, API and MCP access.

The trade-offs

  • ✕Smaller free allowance: 3 hours a month, down from 5.
  • ✕Short free storage: transcripts kept 3 months, audio 1 month.
  • ✕Consent notices only on Business: not on Pro.
  • ✕Thin independent coverage: few ratings beyond 169 on the App Store.

Worth it if…

  • →Freelancers and consultants who record 4 to 40 hours of client calls a month.
  • →Small teams that want summaries pushed to a CRM or project tool.
  • →Multilingual users who need transcription in many languages.

Skip it if…

  • →You record three hours or less a month: Basic covers it.
  • →You record far more than 40 hours a month alone: Fireflies’ unlimited plan may cost less.
  • →You need automatic consent notices but not a Business budget.

What does the free Basic plan cover?

The Basic plan gives 3 hours of transcription a month, keeps transcripts for 3 months and audio for 1 month, and caps a single recording at 2 hours. It still includes the parts most people want: a bot or bot-free recording in Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, the mobile app and Chrome extension, transcription in 100+ languages, an AI summary for every meeting, AI chat across meetings, and API and MCP access for Claude and ChatGPT.

Three hours is three one-hour client calls or about six 30-minute check-ins a month. A freelancer with a weekly client call already needs four hours. The three-month transcript window is the quieter limit: notes from a project kickoff disappear before many projects end.

If you only record an occasional interview or discovery call, Basic is enough. Export what you need to keep before the 3 months run out.

What a freelancer pays per recorded client hour

Our arithmetic at list prices for one user. At 20 hours of calls a month, MeetGeek Pro costs $0.80 per recorded hour on monthly billing and $0.50 on yearly billing. At 30 hours, Pro plus ten extra hours at $0.50 is $20.99 a month; Business at $27 becomes worth a look only above about 42 hours a month, when the overage would pass the price gap.

Otter Pro lists $16.99 a month or $8.33 billed annually for 1,200 recording minutes (20 hours), so $0.85 or about $0.42 per hour at the same 20 hours. Otter caps a Pro meeting at 90 minutes, against 2 hours on MeetGeek Pro. Fireflies Pro lists $18 a month or $10 billed annually with unlimited transcription and 8,000 minutes of storage per seat: $0.90 or $0.50 per hour at 20 hours, and cheaper per hour the more you record.

On monthly billing MeetGeek is the cheapest of the three at 20 hours; on annual billing Otter edges it; for heavy recorders who stay inside the storage limit, Fireflies’ unlimited transcription wins. A freelancer recording 10 hours a month should compare on features, since the gap is a few dollars.

How has MeetGeek’s price changed?

The March 9, 2025 snapshot of the pricing page lists Basic with 5 hours of transcription a month, Pro at $19 a user a month billed monthly or $15 billed annually with 20 hours, Business at $39 monthly or $29 annually with 100 hours, and Enterprise from $59.

By the December 15, 2025 and May 5, 2026 snapshots, Basic shows 3 hours, the figure still on the live page. Today Pro is $15.99 monthly or $9.99 yearly, and Business is $27 monthly or $17 yearly with unlimited transcription instead of 100 hours. The $0.50 per extra hour on Pro is unchanged since March 2025.

For a paying user that is a cut: Pro on annual billing went from $15 to $9.99 a month, a third less by our arithmetic. For a free user, the allowance fell by 40%. The yearly toggle now advertises savings of up to 40%, up from 26% in March 2025.

What do users say about MeetGeek?

The iOS app, Smart AI Note Taker - MeetGeek, holds a 4.9 out of 5 from 169 ratings on the US App Store as of October 29, 2026, a small sample.

A Geekflare review published in March 2025 reported transcription “close to 100% accuracy” in its own short test, but called the then $15-a-user price “draconian” for a bootstrapped startup and said the Slack integration needed “major improvements.” The price has since dropped to $9.99 a month on yearly billing.

Independent coverage beyond that is thin, and most comparison pages are written by rival note takers. The practical test is your own calls: record two or three on the free plan, including one with accented or multilingual speakers, before paying.

Pro vs Business, and what else to check

Business adds unlimited transcription, 3-hour meetings, HD video recording, team spaces, rules to skip meetings you do not want recorded, and recording consent notifications. A solo freelancer rarely needs the team features, but anyone who records clients in places that require all-party consent should note that automated consent notices sit on Business.

MeetGeek offers 30% off for startups, non-profits and education on request, and a 14-day trial of Business. Pro adds Zapier, Make and n8n workflows, meeting templates and downloads, which matters if transcripts feed a CRM or a project tool.

Academy data: none of the prompt packs in our library names MeetGeek; eight cover meetings, and the Claude meeting-notes pack alone holds 120 prompts for turning any transcript into minutes and follow-ups.

The verdict

MeetGeek Pro is worth it at $15.99 a month, or $9.99 billed yearly, for anyone who records more than three hours of calls a month. Per recorded hour it is level with Otter and cheaper than Fireflies on monthly billing.

Stay on Basic if you record a call or two a month. What would change the answer: an accuracy problem on your own multilingual calls, or a recording volume high enough that Fireflies’ unlimited transcription beats Pro’s $0.50 overage.
