Is Mem worth it in 2026?
Every Mem tier and allowance, what the free plan really covers, and the plan a heavy note-taker ends up on.
The quick answer
Mem is worth paying for once the free plan stops covering your notes, and for a daily note-taker that usually means Mem Pro at $29/mo as of 24 October 2026, which allows 100 new notes and 100 messages to Mem a month. The free plan costs $0 but stops at 25 new notes and 25 messages a month, with no routines and no connections. If you create about 200 notes a month, the first tier that covers you is Pro 2× at $49/mo. Every tier has a ceiling, and the pricing page shows no annual rate, no free trial and no student price.

Step-by-step tutorials for Mem, Claude, Midjourney and many other tools, plus member deals valued at $3M+. 7-day free trial on the annual plan.
For a daily note-taker, the real choice is between Mem Pro at $29/mo and Pro 2× at $49/mo. The free plan allows 25 new notes a month, which is about one for each working day. Anyone who saves two notes a day uses all 25 by mid-month, so the free plan is a trial-sized allowance for a busy person, not a permanent home.
Mem sells a workspace for notes, meetings and ideas, plus an agent that learns from what you save and checks in when something needs you. The paid ladder has six plans and one add-on, and every allowance on it is a cap. Mem’s pricing page sets the numbers used below, read on 24 October 2026. The table lists every allowance on the pricing page, and the sections after it explain where each cheaper plan runs out.

What you get
- ✓Deep Search and templates on the free plan, which the pricing FAQ says are available on every plan.
- ✓Pro adds routines and one connection, the features that let Mem run in the background.
- ✓Messages and new notes have matching caps on every tier, so one number tells you the ceiling for each.
- ✓One-click export of notes and collections as Markdown, according to the FAQ.
- ✓Voice Mode on every tier, from 3 hours on Free to 25 hours on Pro.
The trade-offs
- ✕Every tier has a ceiling. Messages, notes and voice hours are capped on all seven levels, so no plan removes the caps.
- ✕The Free plan has no routines and no connections, so it cannot run work in the background.
- ✕Extra Usage is offered on Pro 20× only, so growth below that tier means a plan change.
- ✕The pricing page shows no annual rate, no free trial and no student price.
- ✕Mem is not end-to-end encrypted, which matters for client or legal material.
Worth it if…
- →You create roughly 25 to 100 new notes a month and want tasks and voice notes captured in the same place.
- →You want Mem to run routines or read one outside source such as Gmail, which means Pro or above.
- →You want a monthly plan with a fixed ceiling you can plan around.
Skip it if…
- →You create fewer than 25 new notes a month, where the free plan covers you.
- →You need a plan with no caps, or you need an annual rate or a free trial confirmed before you pay. The pricing page shows neither, and Mem’s terms mention both without a price.
- →You handle material that must be end-to-end encrypted.
What the free plan really covers
The free plan gives you 25 messages to Mem, 25 new notes, 25 tracked notes, 15 open tasks and projects, and 3 hours of Voice Mode each month. The help center adds one Free-only cap the table leaves out: 25 PDF pages a month across all uploads, and an upload that would exceed the month’s remaining pages is blocked whole. It has no custom routines, no routine executions and no connections. Without a connection, Mem cannot pull context from outside sources such as Gmail or Slack, which the page names as examples. For someone who wants a place to drop thoughts and find them later, that is enough. For someone who wants Mem to follow up on work across other apps, it is not.
Deep Search and templates are on every plan, according to the pricing FAQ, so the free tier is a fair test of Mem’s search. It is a poor test of automation, because the routines and connections that run in the background start at Pro.
Academy data: Of the 137 prompts across our six Notion, OneNote and Evernote packs, none is for Mem, since the library has no Mem pack. If you want a prompt set for a notes app you already use, start with the Notion AI prompts.
Where the cheaper tiers run out
Messages to Mem and new notes are separate allowances, and Mem gives both the same number on every tier. An email that creates a note uses one message and one new note, so for email capture the note count is the number to watch. Plus stops at 50 of each, and Pro stops at 100. A person who saves about five notes a working day reaches 100 near the end of the month, which is when the Pro allowance stops being enough.
Take a heavy month of about 200 new notes. Pro 2× is the first tier whose 200-note allowance covers it, with no spare room. On monthly billing that is $588 a year, which is our arithmetic on the printed price, since the page shows no annual rate. Pro costs $348 a year on monthly billing and runs out at note 100, so it is the cheaper plan only while your busiest month stays at or under 100 new notes.
Voice Mode is the other limit people reach. Pro gives 25 hours of captured time a month and Pro 2× gives 50. The page says that allowance counts total captured time, so one long meeting uses more of it than a handful of short voice notes.
What Pro adds, and why routines matter
Pro is the first tier with one custom routine, one connection and 50 routine executions. A custom routine runs on a schedule to prepare a briefing, do research, create or organize notes or send reminders. The page’s example is a meal plan note every Sunday. Each scheduled run counts as one execution, so a daily routine uses about 30 of Pro’s 50 in a month.
A connection links Mem to an outside source, lets it detect tasks and projects there, and helps it recognize when work is already done. Pro includes one. Pro 2× doubles that to two, which matters if you want Mem to read both your Gmail and your Slack.
Extra Usage only exists on Pro 20×
Extra Usage is a $50 monthly unit, and the pricing page describes it only for Pro 20× customers, so treat it as a top-tier option. Each unit adds 500 messages, 500 new notes, 500 notes tracked, 250 open tasks, 5 routines, 250 routine executions, 5 connections and 125 Voice Mode hours. You can add several units without changing plans.
The top of the ladder works out to $249/mo for Pro 20× plus one unit, which is 2,500 new notes a month. That is our sum of two printed prices. Below Pro 20×, the page offers no add-on, so growth below that tier means a plan change.
Billing, trials and what the page leaves out
The pricing page shows only monthly prices, with no annual rate, no free trial and no student pricing. Budget at the monthly price until a checkout screen shows something else. The page says monthly activity resets each billing period, and that open work, routines and connections count what is active at the same time. It does not say whether unused allowance carries over, so do not plan on a rollover. Mem also offers a Teams plan that unifies billing and access for a team instead of separate Mem Pro subscriptions. It is not on the pricing page and Mem quotes it on request, so this review does not cover its price or limits.
Privacy is the real limit for some buyers. Mem encrypts data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS, but it is not end-to-end encrypted, because it has to process your notes to build its intelligence on top of them. Mem says it does not sell data or mine it to serve ads. If you keep client or legal material in Mem, that model matters more than the allowance table.
The verdict
Our verdict: start on Free, move to Pro when the 25-note cap starts to bind, and go to Pro 2× once your busiest months pass 100 new notes.
Mem is worth it for people who want notes and tasks captured without manual upkeep. The weakness is that every tier has a ceiling, and the agent features that justify the price, routines and connections, only start at Pro.
Skip it if you need a plan with no caps or end-to-end encryption, because the pricing page offers neither. It shows no annual rate or free trial either, and Mem’s terms mention both without a price, so confirm them with Mem before you commit. Encryption matters most for work with client material.

Does Mem have an annual plan or a free trial?▾
The pricing page shows neither, and it lists no annual rate, no free trial and no student pricing. Does an email to Mem count against my limits?▾
Yes. An email sent to Mem counts as one message to Mem, and if it creates a note, that note also counts toward your new-note allowance. Messages sent through other channels, such as WhatsApp, count the same way.
